PELICAN LAKE

BREEZY POINT, CROW WING COUNTY

Area: 8367.39 acres

Deepest Point: 104 feet

Shore length: 27.76 miles

Defining Characteristics: Much of the lake is residential, though there are two resorts, a youth camp, four public accesses and a swimming beach all open to the public.

Water Quality: Oligotrophic (low nutrients), hard water lake, with relatively clear water.

Number of aquatic plant species: 38 species present

Fish species: Walleye, largemouth bass, northern pike, panfish, tullibee

Historic Fact: Although some Minnesota DNR maps call it Moose Bay, the body of water that once was the entrance to Little Pelican Lake should officially be called Mousseau Bay. In the early 1900s one could easily boat between the two lakes and a bridge on County Road 4 carried Model T Fords over the channel just south of Breezy Point.
