Voigt’s ran the popular GM 4106 until Motorcoach Industries developed the MC7 Challenger. “At that point in time we phased out the GMs for the MCIs and have been with MCI ever since,” Troy noted. Surging the BLA Streets

M

erle Gallant, President of the Northern Tin Street Rod Association organized this year's MSRA members Fall Campout in Brainerd Sept. 9 through 11. "We anticipate 800 to 900 members attending the event and about 500 cars." Gallant said.

odge nson's D e B g e r G

"We don't require an RSVP so we don't have exact numbers, but we've got a good guess," added Gallant. "We're really excited to have them here in our area and want to show them a good time. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones." Members can camp at the Crow Wing County fairgrounds or stay at one of the lodging facilities. Area businesses should prepare for a surge in clientele and traffic. The public can plan on a spectacular show of wheels on the streets of Brainerd and surrounding areas. And indulge in the auto show to be held on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at Gregory Park.

First National Bank Building 6th and Front St. Historic Factor:

Historic Factor:

Originally, Franklin Junior High School, the building was completed in 1932. Additions extending the building took place in 1954 and 1962. Once facing a possible demolition, the former junior high school was converted into commercial artist rental space and 25 live/work rental spaces for artists.

This is the site of one of Brainerd's most infamous crimes- the 1933 First National bank robbery led by "Baby Face" Nelson. Though they escaped, the building still contains bullet holes from the heist. For more information on the story visit Brainerdhistory. com. Today the building is home to Design Consign and the Masonic Aurora Lodge No. 100.

Last Turn Saloon 214 S. 8th St. Hours: 11am - 1 a.m. (Closed Sun.) Historic Factor:

Pacific Railroad was the first transcontinental railroad in the northern region. The shops were built in 1882 to provide a maintenance and repair stop for the engines along the line. The operation was the first manufacturing establishment in the town. Brainerd quickly became the center of repair and maintenance for the first transcontinental railroad in the United States. Today, the buildings serve as commercial rental properties and event space rentals.

Spirits abound here! Rumored to be haunted by bootleggers of the prohibition era, The Last Turn Saloon is a must see for anyone looking for a delicious burger served with a side of "spookfactor." With its vintage decor, it's like a museum in itself and has attracted investigations by Dakota Paranormal Investigators group and Johnsdale Paranormal Group.
