Grand View Lodge has long established itself as one of the premier wedding venues in lake country. Whether you are a local planning your dream wedding or traveling to the resort because it is the perfect spot for your destination wedding, the location on the shores of beautiful Gull Lake will not disappoint.
The gorgeous property offers exquisite photography possibilities and multiple options no matter how many people make up the size of your guest list. Both intimate ceremonies and larger weddings are accommodated flawlessly at Grand View.
While a ceremony accompanied by the afternoon sun sounds lovely, events earlier in the day are gaining steam in popularity, too. A brunch wedding is a new trend for couples that is perfect for a smaller group and can mean a relaxing and rewarding way to celebrate.
The Brunch & Bubbly package is an option that more couples have begun to enjoy. Perfect for a smaller group of 25 to 75 guests, the Chapel at Grand View offers a beautiful ceremony.
Following the wedding, the options are endless for ways to keep the celebration going with your friends and family by moving to a fun and intimate dining venue. Cru offers a fine-dining atmosphere, complete with a wine cellar and fireplace. The North Hotel offers Discover, which provides a more modern vibe and beautiful private patio area. Headwaters, located in the lower level of the historic Main Lodge, provides a cozy private dining area with natural light and fireplace. Celebrate with a delightful brunch menu. Take it to the next level by adding a raw bar or chef action station. Don’t forget to toast your new life together with a mimosa or Bloody Mary bar.
A wedding earlier in the day means you have the rest of the day to enjoy the other offerings at Grand View Lodge such as the spa, a tee time on one of the award-winning golf courses, or time together on the lake or relaxing in one of the resort pools.
Host your wedding at Grand View Lodge and everything you need in your downtime is within walking distance for the entire weekend. Retail shops, coffee shops, breathtaking scenery and delicious
food are all located on the grounds and just a relaxing stroll away.
Book your wedding for later this year or lock in a date for 2025 and let the wedding staff at the resort help make your dreams come true.

When planning their special day, brides and grooms know the “must-haves” list is lengthy and overwhelming. As the seasons change, so do the trends in the world of wedding preparations. Luckily, the Brainerd lakes area is filled with excellent options and skilled business owners who are poised and ready to help make everyone’s dream wedding a reality. Here are some trends for 2025 to keep in mind when planning your upcoming wedding.
Emily Kaye Bridal Boutique of Nisswa knows how to help brides from all walks of life make a statement with their gowns. The wedding dress world is constantly evolving and embracing timeless elegance and fresh, innovative designs are what today’s brides seek.
“As a stylist, I know it is all about embracing timeless elegance and fresh, innovative designs,” boutique owner Emily Kaye Beutz shared. “One of the standout trends making a grand return is the drop-waist silhouette. This style elongates the torso and flares at the hips, creating a sophisticated, flattering, regal and contemporary shape. Perfect for brides looking to make a bold yet graceful statement, drop-waist gowns are often paired with intricate lacework, structured bodices and dramatic trains to enhance their allure.”
Emily shared the most desired gowns infuse this classic style with modern twists, such as illusion necklines, detachable skirts and off-shoulder sleeves. These elements add versatility and personality, allowing brides to customize their look for the ceremony and reception.
“One of the most exciting trends in wedding fashion is removable sleeves, offering brides the ultimate blend of versatility and style,” Emily added.
“This feature allows brides to transform their look throughout the day, seamlessly transitioning from a romantic, formal ceremony to a modern, effortless reception vibe.”
With a wide variety of wedding dresses in sizes 0-30, Emily Kaye’s is ready to help shoppers choose the dress of their dreams. “We are excited to work with 2025 brides to help them find a dress as radiant as their love story.”
Regarding using wedding decorations that combine grandeur, class and timeless appeal, Kelli Mankowski, CBA from Be Bold Balloons, shared balloon artistry at a wedding venue can have a considerable impact.
“Balloons are gorgeous, elegant, whimsical, and dreamy — all of which are perfect for a wedding setting,” Mankowski shared. “Sometimes it can be hard to get past the perceptions that balloons are best for birthdays or anniversaries, but balloon art can add a level of contrast and ‘wow’ that is hard to beat.”
Mankowski added balloon industry trends follow the same color patterns, colors and styles as other décor. “The Pantone color of the year for 2025 is Mocha Mousse, so we’re seeing a lot of warm colors with a Bohemian-style feel, she noted.”
She also shared that since balloons come in so many sizes, they are a great way to fill a large area at a very economical cost. Balloons can add “high impact” visual presence as arches, photography backdrops and even centerpieces.
“Professionally designed and arranged balloons create a bold and unique décor choice for a moderate amount of money,” Mankowski concluded.
No wedding would be complete without the rings. Barb Merritt, the former owner of Pequot Lakes’ Merritt Jewelers, is a longtime expert in fine jewelry. She shared that in the age of an “add to cart” mentality, couples truly need to see what they are buying in person to get the perfect rings for their style and budget. “We encourage all brides and grooms to stop into a brick-and-mortar jewelry store to see which cut, style and gold tones look best on their hands. Regarding trends, lab-grown diamonds are very popular now because of the cost savings. Kevin O’Hern is our expert goldsmith and the new owner of Merritt Jewelers, and he is ready to help couples create memories in 2025.”
Another essential component of a wedding celebration is the cake.
Professional baker Chris Skarp from Brainerd Lakes Cakes notes that a trend that has trickled over from 2024 to 2025 is the option for couples to have a small cutting cake and a dessert table for guests.
“Brainerd Lakes Cakes has a long list of delicious desserts to offer wedding goers, and a few of the more popular requests include cupcakes, cookies, mini bundt cakes and single servings of apple crisps. We also get requests for dairy-free and vegan options, which we are happy to do.”
When asked what advice she would give couples looking for a baker for their special day, Chris said she highly recommends scheduling a tasting six to eight months in advance. “Scheduling a tasting with us is fun; it’s a great way for brides and groomsto-be to sample what they do or don’t like. We love it when couples bring in pictures of the cakes they like so we can get a feel for their style, whether it’s Bohemian, up north, simplistic or even minimalistic. We’ve also noticed that Vintage Heart Cakes are making a comeback. These are heart-shaped cakes adorned with ruffles, frills, and piping, which were all the rage back in the 1980s.These cakes are fun for us to make, resulting in a show-stopping cake with vintage appeal.”
Jaci Ohotto of Bloom Designs, a wedding and event florist and planner in Brainerd, said, “We’re seeing so much more color, which is so refreshing. My team and I love the elevated ‘garden party’ vibes that will be very popular in 2025. Décor trends include the use of lots of candlelight and the use of smaller interesting pieces, such as mini lamps. More and more clients are
doing online RSVPs, but the majority still send hard copies of invitations. I also love seeing QR codes on websites printed on the invitations.”
Jaci said an absolute “must have” for brides and grooms in 2025 is a wedding planned. “We believe hiring a wedding planner is the best line item on a budget. If you don’t hire someone you love, you will do all your small tasks and ensure everything comes together. If it’s not in the budget to hire a planner and have essential time with the people you love, I would avoid DIY tasks and personalization that aren’t from a hired vendor.”
No wedding celebration would be complete without the perfect venue. Another top trend of 2025 is micro-weddings. A microwedding is a smaller version of a traditional wedding, typically with a guest list of no more than 50 people.
Located on Clark Lake in Nisswa, Catalyst at Nature Link’s intentional architecture highlights the lake’s beauty with every view.
Built by multi-venue owners, this venue space is beautiful and functional for couples, guests and vendors.
“We can host large weddings with up to 225 guests, small gatherings and elopements,” Marketing Manager Danielle Maetche shared. “We are noticing a shift to more intimate gatherings for 2025 and are also seeing bold colors like bright reds and light blues. Couples are not shying away from color.
We’ve also seen an uptick in film photography, old-fashioned style cakes and drapery for backdrops and decor. Catalyst is the perfect wedding venue and destination with its lakeview and access, indoor and outdoor ceremony options, large windows with natural light and on-site lodging. When booking at Catalyst, we want our couples to envision their day with a focus on a stress-free experience, building design, capacity and location with amenities.”
Trends for the upcoming wedding season favor experiences and options that create welcoming environments by creating spaces for genuine connection. More intimate settings with carefully selected guest lists and whimsical yet unique touches replace previous years’ big, flashy weddings. These new trends and ideas perfectly reflect the sentiment of why couples are coming together in holy matrimony in the first place. What memories will your wedding create in 2025?
Michael and Bella met at the country music festival, WeFest, during the summer of 2016. The theme that year was “Almost Paradise.”
Michael was attending the event with friends. Bella was attending with her father and longtime family friend, Gary Breesman, his daughter Jenna (bridesmaid) and Rachel.
As luck would have it, Michael’s friends included her second cousin, Max, which led to the introduction to Michael by her father. They learned they would be attending the University of WisconsinStout together in the fall. (Michael starting his junior year and Bella starting as a freshman) Derek told Michael, “It’s your job to look out for her at college.” Little did they know, the time at WeFest would serve as the starting point of lifelong friendship and more.
During the early college years together, they were both playing sports (football and soccer). Even though they were in the same season, they found time to support the other’s team when they could with Bella witnessing one of the most memorable wins when Stout beat St. Thomas. Michael fulfilled Derek’s request to look out for Bella. He made sure she got home safely, helped her to find various items she left behind and whenever her parents were on campus for an event, he made an effort to connect.
After interning in New York the summer before graduation, Bella accepted a job and started to prepare for the big move in the spring of 2020. While Bella was planning her “next move,” her family bought a lake home on Ossawinnamakee in Breezy Point, which is about five miles from Michael’s family lake homes on Rush and Cross Lake. Plans changed as Covid peaked and instead of moving to New York, Bella was working remotely from Minnesota. As fate would have it, the two spent a lot of time together at “the lake.” Many watched the two interact and it was obvious to everyone (but them) that there was “more” than friendship brewing. Both were feeling trepidation about taking the next step. Thanks to prodding (A LOT) from the brothers (Alex,
Bryan and Jake), and friends — new and old — Michael FINALLY asked Bella on a date. From that point forward the two were inseparable.
Over the last three years together, they have embraced being together including sharing their passion for travel, spending time with family and weekends up at “the lake.” They built their first home in Centerville/Lino Lakes and added their Pomsky Stout to the family. Michael proposed to Bella Dec. 17, 2022, up at
her parents’ cabin where this adventure took off.
When it came time to select a wedding venue, there was no question the event would take place in the area they will forever remember as the place that represents the things they cherish most — family, friends and the beauty and adventure the great lakes of Minnesota have to offer.
Michael and Bella were married on Feb. 10, 2023, at Grand View Lodge.

You‘ve spent months planning every detail of your wedding.
You have the perfect menu, a guest list that includes your closest friends and family, and a beautiful spot against a lush green backdrop or along the clear blue waters of the beach selected to exchange your vows.
The only thing that could go wrong now is the weather.
You’re in control of most of the items that go into your wedding day, but the weather is not one. So, what happens if the forecast delivers a surprise when the big day arrives? It may sound like a downer to the festivities to have rain on your wedding day, but it doesn’t have to be.
“Using clear umbrellas for a fun photo will allow you to still see the faces of your wedding party.”
Local venues say they discuss the options for alternative plans for a couple in case the weather changes during the earliest steps of planning. If possible, the time for a ceremony can be adjusted slightly on the day of the ceremony to let a shower pass or moved up to squeeze it in before one begins. Sometimes a wet morning will give way to sunshine for an afternoon wedding.
Considering lake country is one of the most popular spots to exchange wedding vows, local event planners say real rainouts have not happened that often in recent years. The weather ‘bubble’ that residents and visitors joke about seems to favor couples who have their hearts set on incorporating the beauty of the area into their special day. Some couples enjoy the security of renting tents or securing gazebos or covered arches for the day.
“It honestly doesn’t happen that often where we have to move a ceremony,” says Kelly Flahave, events manager at Madden’s Resort. Raina Pederson, group sales manager at Breezy Point, confirms the welcoming, but surprising, news. “We had maybe one wedding in the last three years that we have had to move.”
“Our team is really great about paying it by ear and keeping an eye on the forecast,” says Flahave. She says couples can stick to their plan for an outside ceremony, but know the resort has other options if a move is necessary.
“That’s definitely the No. 1 concern for our brides and grooms,” says Pederson. She says couples should not let that be on their mind the whole time. “We usually will have an open ballroom available, and we can move it in there if it works.” It is also possible to move the ceremony to the reception space where dinner will be served.
Nicole Stettler, wedding and events manager at Cragun’s Resort says, “If a change is needed, they will make the decision about three hours out so there is time to make the move. “Really, my first piece of advice for couples is do not look at the weather until you get here because it changes so much.” A lot of times it means making a move to the reception space. Already decorated for dinner, just a few changes may be needed. Chairs can be set up near the front for the family and the ceremony will go off as planned.
“It can be stressful,” says Northland Arboretum Event Coordinator Kelly Hughes. Some couples who get married at the Arboretum rent the upper and downstairs both and can choose to have the ceremony in the one that suits them the most when the time comes.
It is possible to embrace the change of plans and make it just as memorable for you, your friends, and your family.
Using clear umbrellas for a fun photo will allow you to still see the faces of your wedding party or pick bright colored umbrellas that will offer a whimsical and vibrant picture to capture the memory. Accessorize your group with colorful rain boots to add another fun touch for cute photos that will also be functional.
We all know surprises in the weather can happen no matter what time of year it is. But if clouds roll in, there is not much you can do about it but seize the opportunity to still be festive and creative and put your personal touch on the day. Whether you have a pop-up shower or a day-long downpour, the most important thing is you will still be married at the end of the day. And whether they are wet or dry, you will have memories of one of the best days of your life, ones that will last forever.

Today’s wedding dessert tables are as much of a decoration as they are a delicious way to add to your day.
Desserts for your guests can mean anything from bars and cookies to doughnuts and other dreamy delicacies.
Sometimes couples choose to use the dessert table to offer some of their own personal favorites to share with their guests. Whether it is a flavored filling one of you loved when you were a child or a dessert you just cannot say no to as an adult.
Salena Snow, the bakery manager at Reed’s Market, says today’s wedding couples have moved beyond the traditional offering of serving wedding cake and instead choose to create an eye-catching display with almost any sweet treat desired at your reception. “We have made bars and cookies as wedding dessert,” she says, “And we can make doughnuts, which are popular too.”
Baked pastries made by the staff at Reed’s Market will look as impressive as they will taste. Incorporate the colors or theme of your day with colored toppings, icing and sprinkles.
Choosing the dessert for your wedding reception can seem overwhelming, but with the input of Salena and the rest of her team from the bakery at Reed’s Market, you know you will have the perfect eye-catching and delicious way to offer something sweet to your guests to top off the day. You may have to keep an eye on the dessert table though. Your guests will be admiring and snitching your desserts long before their time.
For a fee Reed’s Market will deliver and set up your reception dessert at your reception site. If preferred, they will be sure they are ready in time for you to pick up, so you can have plenty of time to set up your display before it’s needed.
Call the bakery at Reed’s Market today to see what they can create to help you with your celebration.

Planning a wedding is exciting, but let’s face it — it can also be a little overwhelming. With so many expenses to consider, the price tag can tally up fast. Keeping costs down on the details and determining non-negotiables from the start can make sticking to your wedding budget totally doable.
Make sure your budget is realistic. The first step to sticking to your budget is making sure you actually have one. Sit down with your partner and figure out how much you’re willing to spend. Consider your savings, any contributions from family and make sure to include a little wiggle room for those unexpected costs. Undoubtedly there will be something. Once you have your total, break it down into categories like venue, catering, photographers, dress and decorations. Having a clear breakdown will keep things in perspective as you start booking vendors (The Knot, 2024).
organized.
Track every expense — big or small — and update your budget regularly. There are plenty of free apps or spreadsheets available to help you stay on top of your spending. Seeing where your money goes can help you make smarter decisions as the planning progresses. If you go over budget in one area, it’s easier to adjust elsewhere. Wedding budgeting apps like WeddingWire and The Knot allow you to track expenses easily, ensuring you stay on top of things (WeddingWire, 2024). Prioritize what matters most. Every couple has their “must-haves” for their wedding day. For some, it’s the perfect venue; for others, it’s the dream dress or unforgettable photographs. Whatever it is, make sure to allocate more of your budget to the items that matter most to you and your partner. Once you’ve established your top priorities, it’s easier to say “no” to things that aren’t as important (Brides, 2024).
creative with DIY projects.
There’s something special about adding your personal touch to your wedding, and many DIY projects can save you money. Whether it’s designing your own invitations, creating centerpieces, buying
flowers in bulk or even making wedding favors — DIY doesn’t have to equate to “cheap.” Taking on the details yourself is a chance to add meaningful details while keeping costs down. (Budget Savvy Bride, 2024).
Shop smart for wedding attire. The wedding dress is a key part of your big day, but it doesn’t have to break the bank.
Consider shopping sample sales, buying secondhand, or looking at less expensive designers. The standard on bridesmaids’ dresses is a lot less uniform than it once was. Give your bridal party the color scheme and let them find styles that fit your wedding theme but can also be worn again. On the hunt for groomsmen attire? Consider renting. Or if you have an idea of what you want but can’t find it all in one location, most retailers will help you outfit your entire party with the help of additional store locations. (Lovegevity’s Wedding Planning Institute, 2024).
Don’t be afraid to ask about price options. Wedding vendors are used to working with couples on different budgets and they may be willing to offer discounts or package deals. Ask about any off-peak pricing or special promotions. Be clear about your budget from the start and see if you can customize the services to fit within your limits. A little haggling could go a long way (The Knot, 2024).
Be flexible with your date and venue. If you’re open to flexibility, having your wedding on a weekday or during an offseason can help you save significantly on venue and vendor costs. While a Saturday in June might be ideal, choosing a Friday or Sunday in the fall could lead to big savings. If you’re not “married” to the idea of a specific venue, there’s a lot of money to be saved in untraditional wedding venues. Outdoors in the summer, in a friend’s backyard, even a destination wedding can cut major costs when you think creatively (WeddingWire, 2024). You can have the wedding of your dreams without losing track of your finances. Stay focused on what truly matters to you and your partner. Ultimately the day is about celebrating your love in a way that feels true to both of you.

couples need to know
BY REBECCA FLANSBURG
It’s the happiest day of your life, your special day, and the day when your life as a couple will change forever. Call it whatever you’d like, but weddings are a beautifully life-changing event that creates memories that will last a lifetime.
Fash.com shared in a 2024 report the average wedding cost in the U.S. is $25,000 to $35,000 for a 100-guest wedding and that number is expected to rise to $35,000 to $45,000 in 2025. The cost for a ceremony and reception averages $250 to $350 per guest, but that total can fluctuate due to region, specialized menus and wedding party size. The venue makes up the bulk of the budget for most weddings, while the catering and bar costs are also significant expenses.
But before wedding planners get too rattled by some of these numbers, they should know that a beautiful and memorable wedding can be created to fit virtually any budget.
According to Zola.com, social media inspires 91% of couples, but nearly half (48%) struggle with the gap between picture-perfect ideals and real-life budgets. This showcases both the upsides and downsides of finding inspiration online. This online wedding planning platform
also states that, like everything else, the cost of getting married will be significantly higher in 2025.
So, how can couples plan the wedding of their dreams without breaking the bank? Knowing cost estimates upfront will help them direct their funds toward the elements of their ceremony that mean the most to them. Here is a breakdown of what couples can expect to pay for their wedding in 2025 and some tips and tricks to make their planning as affordable as possible.
Wedding site TheKnot.com reports rings account for 9% of the wedding budget. Wedding rings symbolize love and commitment, and couples are more than willing to spend a little extra money to create rings that capture their love story.
According to EstateDiamondJewlery.com, the average engagement ring budget in 2025 is $8,580, reflecting a steady preference for high-quality yet accessible rings. This figure aligns with many buyers prioritizing durability, style, and ethical considerations. Collaborating with professional jewelers in your area is a good way to keep costs in check.
Finding and booking the perfect wedding venue is a priority for wedding planning. Locking in an affordable venue gives the bride and groomto-be peace of mind and allows them to work with a business that best suits their style and budget. According to OMGhitched.com, booking a venue at least 12 to 18 months before your big day is savvy for wedding planners. The financial website Fortunly. com shared the bulk of the budget goes toward securing a wedding venue. Depending on the source, couples pay around $6,000 or $10,500 for this. The most popular places to hold wedding receptions and ceremonies in the U.S. include places of worship, farms and barns, vineyards, hotels, resorts, country estates, banquet halls and parks and gardens.
When planning their special day, vibrant and lovely flowers are a non-negotiable part of the celebration. For those who want flowers that look their most beautiful, order varieties available locally during the season you’re getting married; buying in-season is also an excellent way to save money on wedding flowers. Depending on flower quality, amount and time of year, floral bouquets used for everything from centerpieces to bouquets to other arrangements have an average cost of around $1,500 to $2,000, according to YeahWeddings.com. This site also shared that Saturday is the most popular day of the week to have a wedding, and the demand for a weekend wedding can also push costs up.
Food is an integral part of wedding celebration planning and TheKnot. com shares the price-per-plate can run anywhere from $28-$40 per guest. One way to keep costs down is to offer a buffet-style feast, which not only cuts down on labor costs for the caterer but also shrinks the price per plate to $22-$27 per guest. The good news is the range of catering options has expanded dramatically as more brides and grooms explore more budget-friendly alternatives to the traditional sit-down meal, including food trucks, brunches, afternoon tea parties and even good oldfashioned backyard barbecues.
Liquor is another expense couples must consider when planning their special day. Interest in serving the custom cocktails that have been all the rage in past years is waning. Couples now use 8% of their budget to provide guests with a more simplified drink menu. Abbey Road Farm’s director of events, Kristen Baxter, shared the price
tag of an open bar depends entirely on what is being served.
“If you’re buying a drink package through your caterer, you’ll likely be quoted a price per head. More specifically, nonalcoholic drinks, even nicer options such as LaCroix or Pellegrino sodas, will be a fraction of the cost of any alcohol. From there, it increases: Beer, wine, and liquor will incur additional costs,” Baxter noted.
Fortunly.com also shared that 47 percent of couples exceed their initial wedding budget. Though creating a magical day is foremost in the minds of many couples, smart spending is also essential when it comes to wedding days. Many couples choose a better venue, higher-end food and stunning rings and save money on other wedding options such as dresses/tuxedos, photography and entertainment. Ways to shave costs from the wedding total include hiring local pros, trimming down the guest list and choosing in-season options for food and flowers.Cheers to love!
What started out as a typical summer afternoon kicking off the weekend with my boyfriend on the lake ended with a ring on my finger and the title “fiancée.” On a hot day late in June of 2023, Kobe and I walked down to the lake for a pontoon ride. We were at his parents’ house and this was an otherwise normal occurrence for us when we would have days off together. This particular afternoon however, instead of our usual dip in the lake to cool off, he suggested we opt for a pontoon cruise instead. I obliged, though I recall it was very hot that day and I was low-key thinking that I’d prefer to go swimming!
On our leisure cruise, I noticed Kobe had chosen a playlist of my favorite songs to listen to. It was then that I started to wonder if this was our “big moment”.
Although, I had thought that on a couple occasions before… My mind started spinning and I remembered how earlier in the week, his sister asked me to join her at the nail salon to get my nails done. After what felt like forever in that moment of waiting, Kobe nervously got down on one knee and popped the question, “Will you marry me?” We both got tears in our eyes and started feeling the beauty and significance of the moment. In hindsight, it was so simple, but oh SO perfect.
With a ring on my finger and our future in mind, we shifted into wedding planning mode and started checking off our boxes. Pick a date, find a location, buy a dress — the list felt endless!
One of the first things we did was to start searching for a venue. With so many beautiful locations and options of venues
to get married in Minnesota, we started dreaming and considering a couple venues in the Brainerd lakes area. Then, one night Kobe and I were talking and he randomly suggested the idea, “What if we get married on my family’s land?” Instantly we both knew this would be incredibly special to his family and knowing that meant the world to us. We talked through the idea with his parents and grandparents and then it was set. We were going to be married on family land. It felt so right and fit the dream of our rustic wedding.
Next on our list was picking a date! Our options were wide open since we weren’t getting married at a special commercial venue. We casually scanned the calendar and on a whim, Kobe’s uncle suggested 8/24/24 and brought to our attention the numbers 8 and 24 were Kobe Bryant’s
jersey numbers. Basketball was a huge part of Kobe’s life back in high school. It felt like a sign to us that 8/24/24 was “our day” and from then on, there was no question, it was our date.
Now for the fun part, all the details! Everything about our wedding planning process was meaningful and special to us. It was a group effort from not only us but our families and friends too. To start, not many people can say their parents built a barn for their wedding–but essentially, ours did!
Kobe’s parents had been wanting to build a pole building for some time on the family land and decided our wedding was their sign to move forward with it. Along with building the barn, with help from friends and family, we cleared land for our ceremony site, built 56 benches out of pallets, an outdoor bar, and a back-drop for our head table. Our grandparents built our wedding arches and our uncle detailed large cable spools and built bar stools to use for our head table. We had so many ideas for personal touches to add to our wedding. I can’t tell you how many weekends we spent working on DIY projects with our family and friends.
When our wedding day arrived, Kobe and I had been thinking about how we could honor our parents and grandparents who
“Everything about our wedding planning process was meaningful and special to us. It was a group effort from not only us but our families and friends too.”
had shown us so many wonderful examples of love. We decided to create a photo display of “all the love stories before us” to honor our parents and grandparents and coordinated a special dance to the song “Remember When” by Alan Jackson to dedicate to our parents. Both our parents were surprised and elated.
Looking back, all the personal touches made our special day so meaningful. We put our heart and soul into it and I’ll never regret one moment. Our wedding was the perfect representation of our lives. It was simple yet elegant. I’m forever grateful to our wedding photographer who captured our special day and all for capturing all of the personal touches perfectly. She was able to highlight everything that is special to us: the people in our lives, our family land that now holds these cherished memories and all the details that made our day unique. This was truly the wedding of my dreams!

Store owner Ed Menk and his experienced staff have never lost sight of their commitment to offering quality fine jewelry to Brainerd lakes area customers along with personalized service that is second to none. The staff has not only been with the company for many years, together they collectively have more than 100 years of experience in the jewelry and diamond industry. They also know that purchasing a ring for an engagement or a wedding is one of the important expenditures in a couple’s life. And it’s a decision that will be better made with the knowledge and guidance of an expert.
“We enjoy helping brides and grooms find the perfect wedding ring for their special occasion and have options for every budget,” Menk confirmed. “Our wedding bands are made of the best materials and the highest craftsmanship and we offer only stones cut to maximum brilliance. They also offer couples diversity in jewelry choices and the largest collection of Canadian-mined and cut diamonds in the area. To view and appreciate the true brilliance and
If a wedding proposal is in the future, E.L. Menk can take the pressure off grooms-to-be by offering a unique service that helps them with the decision-making process. After working to select the best diamond for the future groom’s budget and vision, the selected diamond is then mounted in a simple solitaire setting. This works to preserve the magic and excitement of the proposal, yet gives the bride-to-be an option of returning the solitaire setting and then selecting a new setting that better fits her style and taste.
“The times have changed, but we haven’t,” Menk noted. “We have always been focused on providing the best service and expertise possible right within the walls of this building. In our jewelry workshop we not only create fine jewelry, we perform quality repairs and maintenance to keep your items looking like new. All of our production and repair work is done onsite by my expert staff members who specialize in repairs, custom jewelry production and appraisals. Our customers’ satisfaction is always in the forefront of our minds and we continually work to ensure that everyone leaves this store with a smile that sparkles as brightly as the diamonds we sell.”
As E.L. Menk Jewelers celebrates its 44th year in business, Menk credits his company’s longevity to consistently offering excellence in customer service, professionalism, integrity along with cultivating longterm relationships with the customers who are now considered friends. In an era where online deals tempt buyers with cheap prices on inferior products, he also points out that there is no substitute for a trusted relationship with a hometown jeweler.
“We’ve been here a long time and we will continue to be here for years to come,” Menk concluded. “We are proud to be able to use our knowledge and vast selection of stones and settings to assist brides and grooms-to-be in making a selection that not only reflects their relationship’s beauty and emotions, but also one that will last a lifetime.
