From the CEO
Welcome to our program guide! This year, the theme for Ontario Public Library Week (October 16–20) is Libraries for Life / Biblios pour la vie, and our fall lineup highlights the role libraries play at all stages of your life in deepening your literacy, learning, and community connections.
For children, our story, music and STEAM programs continue to introduce the youngest to pre-literacy fun. For the middle years, we have a whole range of art, science, gaming, and creative programs, highlighted during Science Literacy Week September 18–24. For teens, we welcome the return of the popular TeenTober, featuring an Art Gallery and Mini Market, Snack Taste Test, and virtual Teen Talks from up and coming Brampton youth.
For adults, we have a range of informative and fun activities including the 12 Days of Creativity, mental health sessions with CHMA, and technology discovery during TechTober, including the return of the popular Repair Cafe and a Right to Learn Showcase. And that’s not to mention everything we have for seniors and for newcomers.
I would also like to invite you to explore our new Chinguacousy Branch which has relocated from the Brampton Civic Centre to the Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet. The Library has always been a part of the lives of Bramalea residents and we are excited to continue to serve you from this new location, where we will announce program offerings in the near future. Libraries are for life, and we will be here to serve you!
Todd Kyle CEO, Brampton Libraryon your phone:
• Scan ISBN codes and checkout books on the spot with self-checkout
• Place holds and select your pickup location, renew borrowed items, check due dates
• Discover new books, ebooks, audiobooks, movies, TV shows, newspapers, magazines, online learning, and more!
• Check hours and locations at a glance
Our Library in the Civic Centre has relocated to the Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet at the southwest corner of Central Park Drive and Bramalea Road. The photograph on our cover was captured just after the sun had set below Mount Chinguacousy. The camera was secured to a tripod for a clean shot, with a shutter speed of three seconds to let as much light in as possible to bring out the colours of the twilight sky.
