Brampton’s business community is vital not only to Peel and Ontario, but to our entire country, and beyond. The strength, depth, diversity and talent of the businesses and organizations in this Directory, demonstrates why Brampton plays such an important role in the national and global economy.

For over 130 years, Brampton Board of Trade has proudly represented our growing and evolving business community. Companies, entrepreneurs and organizational leaders have made the Board of Trade the trusted and well-respected voice of business in Brampton. At a time of overwhelming change and challenge, the need for that voice, and the strength and power of our network, has never been more apparent.

Members support this Board of Trade because it is collaborative, courageous and focused on initiatives that bring competitive advantage to our companies and comparative advantage to our community. I am proud of the power, tenacity and resilience of the Brampton business community and of our network. We have risen to challenges, worked together, and supported each other.

Over the last year, we have embraced disruption at a scale and pace none of us had prepared for. The pandemic and health crisis has had a dramatic and varying impact on the business world. Some have suffered catastrophic loss while others have been able to seize the opportunity as a catalyst for positive change. It has exposed areas of weakness and risk, identified a need for greater resilience in our planning, and has highlighted many inequities. The need to have a strong united voice, to support and to be supported, has become so evident, and has never been greater. The Brampton Board of Trade pivoted quickly, providing digital support to our members, creating

I look forward to a bright and prosperous year ahead. We are wiser and more resilient and I’m confident that we will emerge stronger and more successful as a result. MAYOR’S MESSAGE Patrick Brown Dear friends, On behalf of Brampton City Council, I am pleased to extend best wishes to members of the Brampton Board of Trade. I appreciate your advocacy efforts and I want to thank the volunteers for their dedication to the business community. The Member Directory is an excellent source of information, and a great way to support your fellow members. The COVID-19 pandemic has been an economic tidal wave for businesses since its onset and we remain committed to supporting and advocating for our business community. For the third consecutive year Brampton City Council has delivered a 0% property tax increase to fund the City’s Budget, while making a record contribution of $114M to reserves. In May 2020, the City of Brampton’s COVID-19 Economic Support Task Force, which includes CEO Todd Letts, established the Economic Recovery Strategy as a framework to move forward with restarting the local economy. This will be achieved by implementing actions under each of the four cornerstones: Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship; Investment; Infrastructure; and Arts, Culture and Tourism. So far, much has been accomplished which you can see at www.brampton.ca Other initiatives launched to support Brampton’s economic recovery include the Brampton Patio Program; Support Local Campaign; and Digital Main Street Programs (ShopHere, Digital

Transformation Grants, and Future Proof). We also launched the InvestBrampton.ca website, which provides a centralized source for local businesses, entrepreneurs, and potential foreign investors to access the information and resources they need to locate or grow their business in Brampton. As one of Canada’s youngest and fastest growing cities, we have so much to offer. Brampton has a diverse workforce and access to a highly skilled talent pool. Our central location within Canada’s Innovation Corridor and our connectivity provide companies with quick and easy access to international markets. We are also prioritizing innovation and entrepreneurship, and recently welcomed BHive to our growing Innovation District. BHive will offer international entrepreneurs a soft landing pad to establish new, scalable businesses in Canada through the Start-Up Visa Program. COMMITTEES & NETWORKS Policy & Government Relations With the 2021-24 Strategic Plan as their lead, this committee focuses their attention on the policies and issues impacting Brampton business. This committee is instrumental in conveying to elected officials the important issues that Brampton businesses face, asking the pertinent questions that concern our members, and most especially, calling for actionable platforms that are Brampton-centric.

Finance This committee is entrusted with looking at the strategic direction of the Board from a financial perspective. While overseeing the Board’s financial activities, including budget, compliance, auditing, and the investment portfolio, this group of financial experts is charged with ensuring healthy operational results and excellent fiscal management. An extension of the Board of Directors, this committee can dig deeper into specific areas in order to provide insights and ideas for future strategic decision-making as well as make recommendations on the current budget and how it connects to the 5-year plan.

Peer to Peer Networks The Brampton Board of Trade is the forum for quality conversations. Leading businesses meet monthly by sectors and common objectives. P2P Networks are designed to provide a place to share common challenges and solutions; to identify trends in the market and to provide tools for Brampton to prosper across all sectors.
