The Distribution Centre is a state-of-the-art facility with 32-foot ceilings and very narrow aisles (VNA). This allows for the smallest possible footprint, and the most efficient use of space. One of the largest costs is land, so it makes sense to go as high as you can. Cutter & Buck’s integrated system tells the order picker the number and size of boxes required prior to picking and sorts the orders accordingly. This allows for maximum efficiency as the order passes through every stage of production. A guide wire buried in the concrete keeps the machine safely between the racks, with centimeters to spare and the GPS system directs the machine where it needs to travel to, following the most efficient picking path available — a first-of-its-kind in Ontario and second in Canada.
