VISION The Brampton Board of Trade will be widely-respected, by business and community champions, as the “go to” organization to convene, collaborate and create solutions for regional economic prosperity.

MISSION

To guide Brampton businesses on their success journey and to lead Brampton’s business community in building Canada’s most dynamic regional economy. Simply put, The Brampton Board of Trade is about business success. The Board’s focus is in two areas: 1. Productivity: Delivering services that save you time, money and helps your enterprise grow 2. Prosperity: Presenting solutions that generate wealth and better Brampton’s quality of life A trusted network, the Brampton Board of Trade convenes relevant meetings of decision-makers and risk-takers where each can help each other grow. The Board of Trade curates information and discussions that provide solutions-oriented outcomes. It is an important catalyst for success at both the enterprise and community level.

1. Advocacy & Representation Continue to drive economic growth by encouraging and influencing sound policy development and decision-making in the public and private sectors, and by representing the interests of the Brampton business community at local, regional and national levels. Further develop advocacy strategies and associated engagement events focusing on key capacitybuilding issues including: • Trade: Monitor and influence the local and regional business climate to stimulate job and business growth • Talent: Build human resource capacity and encourage effective talent management for a highperforming workforce • Investment Attractiveness: Create opportunities to showcase Brampton’s strengths to a broader audience • Transportation: Support efficient movement of goods and people within our region • Innovation: Boldly experiment with new processes and technologies that directly strengthen member experience and impact. • Sustainability: Provide leadership and support to encourage sustainable and ethical business practices • Access: Provide opportunities for members and the business community to engage with government leaders and with other business leaders around key advocacy topics • Voice: Represent the Brampton community at relevant meetings, events and discussions to communicate opportunities and issues affecting the business community • Inform: Ensure that members are kept informed of new and emerging issues and legislation affecting their businesses

Connections & Solutions Foster a culture of support and collaboration by providing opportunities for networking across the business community. • Provide Recognition: Deliver, in engaging formats, signature events to celebrate the strengths and achievements of the Brampton business community and to showcase leadership and innovation across sectors • Build Relationships: Facilitate networking events to encourage support, collaboration referrals and mentor-ship amongst members • Empower: Deliver programs which protect and support business growth and development • Engage: Develop strategies to bring broader participation by younger business leaders (especially start-ups) and continue to expand support services for both established and emerging female professionals • Collaborations: Partner with regional, provincial, national and international chambers, governments and other organizations to build capacity and provide further engagement opportunities

Vision & Growth The Brampton Board of Trade Understands Brampton businesses continue to support associations that demonstrate vision, leadership, relevance and represent the issues that are most important to them. Over the term of this strategic plan, the Board of Trade commits to undertaking the following initiatives to attract and keep Brampton’s smartest businesspeople as members: • Human Resources: Ensure the Board has adequate staff capabilities and skills dedicated to managing a member attraction strategy • Customer Relations Management: Evaluate CRM software and update it to include automated features to improve customer experience • Member Engagement: Create a member engagement strategy with appropriate technology and purposeful touch points each quarter • Member Insights: Establish a program to gather member insights through polls/surveys and other methods on a regular basis to ensure BBOT continues to meet member needs • Leverage Volunteers: Create a suite of volunteer opportunities to leverage the contributions of members to grow BBOT • Prospect Generation: Develop a lead generation and referral program • Member Value: Evaluate program access to members-only benefits and increase member value • Events with Purpose: Ensure the annual event and programs schedule cover meaningful, relevant topics • Advocacy Capability: Ensure adequate staff capabilities are dedicated to advocacy, communications, and client care. • Advocacy Impact: Develop an advocacy strategy that better engages more members in calls to action.

4. Leadership & Accountability Members of Brampton’s business community have clear expectations. Members support a Board of Trade that is collaborative, courageous, and focused on initiatives that bring competitive advantage to our companies and comparative advantage to our community. That support is contingent on trust. That trust pivots on the belief that the Brampton Board of Trade will demonstrate the leadership and accountability of a world-leading Board of Trade, and will in turn, hold our elected officials to that same standard. For the 2021-2024 period, Brampton’s business community trusts the Brampton Board of Trade to focus on these priorities: • Membership: Attract members that adhere to principles of fairness and a code of conduct fitting of a world-leading institution • Leadership: Recruit directors and staff with the vision, leadership, and courage to perform at a high-level • Culture: Create a meeting culture that is inclusive and respectful of diverse opinions • Performance Excellence: Adhere to by-laws and policies that bring out the best in people • Innovation: Boldly experiment with new processes and technologies that directly strengthen member experience and impact. • Speak up: hold elected officials accountable to promises made • Inform: help businesses and politicians to understand the consequences, intended and unintended, of decisions made and decisions delayed.
