BE A VISIONARY LEADER FOR THE 21STCENTURY JEWISH COMMUNITY

Our intensive dual-degree master’s program immerses students in inspiring academic study, field-based experiences, and national and international travel. With only 15 applicants admitted to the program each year, students grow close, supporting each other as friends and colleagues during their years at Brandeis and beyond.

Hornstein students have a wide range of work experiences, political viewpoints and religious backgrounds. The one thing they all have in common is the desire to improve the world through the Jewish community.

TWO ADVANCED DEGREES, ONE WORLDCHANGING GOAL

Hornstein graduates earn two integrated degrees in just 21 months — a Master of Arts in Jewish Professional Leadership and a second master’s degree they choose from the following, based on specific career goals: MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA) MASTER OF PUBLIC POLICY (MPP) MASTER OF ARTS IN JUDAIC STUDIES (MA)

“The dual degree is why I came to Hornstein. Now that I’m a Jewish camp professional, I draw on both skill sets daily. I could not have been trained better!” Caitlin Quinn ’11, Assistant Director, Camp Tawonga

CAREERS ROOTED IN JEWISH VALUES

Hornstein students get great jobs. Dedicated faculty help them find relevant professional field experience during the program and the right job after graduation. Our goal is to help students find interesting, meaningful opportunities that align with their aspirations for their careers and their lives.

“Without the Hornstein degree behind me, in terms of education and title, I would not have been taken as seriously for my first position. Hornstein opens doors wide.” Jordan Fruchtman ’08, Chief Program Officer, Moishe House

THE JOURNEY EXTENDS BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Through field experience and travel to Jewish communities around the world — Israel, New York City and the former Soviet Union — students interact with national and global Jewish leaders who are grappling with the community’s most pressing issues. “The New York seminar brought us in contact with preeminent, visionary Jewish leaders — with startup and established Jewish organizations. Their perspectives and encouragement left me feeling even more excited about the field of Jewish professional leadership.” Adam Kolett ’09, Assistant Director of Community Planning, Greater Miami Jewish Federation
