AUSTRALIA WEEK GALA 2012 Master of Ceremonies, Jamie Durie Join us in celebrating the dramatic and diverse wonders of this amazing Land Down Under. Join Australian Ambassador to the United States Kim Beazley AC, Honorary Consul of Australia Nana Booker AM and Honorary Gala Chairs Michael and Robin Yeager at this spectacular black tie event emceed by Australian landscape gardener and TV personality Jamie Durie.
will showcase the unique culinary flavors only found in Australia paired with wines from Rathbone Wine Group, owner of four wineries handpicked from the most distinguished regions throughout Australia. The recipients of the 2012 Stars of Australia Awards will be former Australian Ambassador to the United States Andrew Peacock AC, GCL and former United States Ambassador to Australia Tom Schieffer.
The evening will feature an Australian gourmet dinner, the "Stars of Australia Awards", fun music and culture, with a silent auction and big board auction with all proceeds benefitting the Texas Charity Project Joy and Hope.
Entertainment for the night will include the unique and unforgettable sounds of the Qantas Choir, featuring Jack Vidgen (Australia's Got Talent Winner) and Guy Sebastian (Singer, Songwriter and Winner of Australian Idol). AUSTRALIA DAY DINNER January 26, 2012 at 7:30PM Come celebrate the wonders of Australia with awardwinning chef Jason Gould! A fine wine and dinner, showcasing Australian culinary delights through the ingredients, preparation, and presentation at Branch Water Tavern.
SPECS WINE PROMOTION From Thursday, January 26th through Saturday, January 28th, visit the Spec's stores all over the city of Houston to a "Taste of Australia" featuring fine wines and epicurean delights from the Land Down Under. Enjoy sample tasting of wines from Rathbone Wine Group, the AACC's official wine sponsor and Cooper’s Beer. On Saturday, January 28th, at the Spec's Midtown Location, join Local Aussie chef Jason Gould at 12:00pm as he performs a cooking demonstration incorporating traditional Aussie foods and snacks. This event is free and open to the public.

As part of Australia week, on Sunday the 29th of January 2012, from 10:30am - 2:30pm rain or shine, the Australian-American Chamber of Commerce will be hosting our 3rd annual family BBQ and Sports Day, Australia vs International Netball and Australia vs England Cricket match.

Netball will be included for the first time, it will be a fun game Australia vs International team, The cricket will be a casual affair (played in backyard style). Although winning isn't important (right!) - The AACC must defend its title from the BABC and once again bring home the other Ashes! The game will be 20 overs per side. Food and beverages will be provided on the day. We are requesting that guests bring an Aussie dessert for 'tea break' in the cricket, please tick the box in the registration below if you will be able to provide a dish.
