ONE / OFF COLLECTION THESIS The ONE / OFF Collection focuses on works exploring the Black experience and Black creativity across the diaspora. Works in the collection range from themes such as Afrofuturism, Afrosurrealism, Afroesotercism, Black Popular Culture, Black Visual Aesthetics, Black Figurative Art and many others. We are honored to have so many incredible Artists represented in our Collection and for these Artists we feel it is our duty to be proud stewards of their work and aid them in their careers to the best of our abilities. Overtime our goal is to amass one of the most respected Collections of Black art on the blockchain that we can in turn use to share with our community to spark conversations about centering lived experiences, amplifying Black joy, and envisioning ourselves in the future. The ONE / OFF Collection will only acquire and consist of work from Black Artists as we look to use art and NFTs to liberate the Black imagination so that the distinctiveness of Black creative expression is embraced and valued for its transformative cultural contributions.
WHY WE COLLECT To Show Support and Build Realationships with the Artists: One of the primary reasons we collect is to build a relationship with the Artist. When we buy an artwork we’re not just buying the art itself, put we’re also making a conscious decision to invest in that Artist and their career. We want to be stewards of their work and aid them in their journey as an Artist and come along with them for the ride. Black Economic Empowerment: When we purchase an artwork from an Artist we understand that we are giving something back and empowering that Artist to be able to push further in their pursuit of being able to fully sustain themselves as solely an Artist. With NFTs specifically we know that if we ever resell a work that the Artist will receive a royalty, which is really powerful when you think about building Black generational and legacy wealth. Market Transparency and Provenance: With NFTs all market transactions are recorded on the blockchain so for any Artist you can quickly understand what price points their works typically sell for in both the primary and secondary market. This kind of information transparency lends itself to having confidence in the value or market for an artwork or Artist. The blockchain also lends itself to providing a permanent and immutable record of when and by whom a work was created so that you can have faith in the fact you are buying work from from the original Artist.
