BRANDON BJERRE
Welcome My journey on this planet began in Southern Germany, where I spent the first 10 years of my youth in Europe. Later, I returned to, what I consider now as my hometown of Columbia, Maryland. As an only child raised in a diverse family, I have always understood the power of an open mind as a vital tool for proper growth and development. The most significant learning processes in my life, to date, has occurred throughout my experience as an athlete. My athletic career not only provided me with diligence and discipline to grow into an adult, but also defined the true value of perseverence within a team structure. Following success in High School as a student-athlete, I was awarded an opportunity to study and play at the collegiate level where I attended Erskine College, completing a B.F.A in 2014. My career was fortunate enough to extend another year overseas where I played one full season. I made the decision to continue my education at Aalborg University in northern Denmark. The program focuses on a more specific area of design that merges aesthetic reasoning and theory through the design of interactive experiences. My inherent passion for design, however, will always root itself in the realm of footwear. In 2015, I was selected to participate in former Jordan/Nike Designer and Pensole Academy founder Dwayne Edwards’ Footwear Design Master Class, located in Portland, Oregon. I can attest that this experience was the official ground breaking moment for my career as a designer. Design for me is not just an idea, but rather a strong desire to be fulfilled through the creation and re-definition of culture driven ideas.
