LETTER OF LEADERSHIP 2020 just keeps surprising all of us. If I had a crystal ball back in September 2019 and was able to look 12 months into the future, I probably would have thrown it out because I thought it was broken. NHL Playoffs in the middle of the summer? These past few weeks have brought some incredible new challenges for our business community, and the region as a whole. With the move to orange on the COVID alert system, and the continued

unpredictability of our weather patterns, this summer did not have a shortage of challenges for us, and they don’t appear to be coming to an end any time soon. What I have learned early in my tenure at the Chamber is the

alternative forms of delivery, or simply offering contact free options, there are a lot of positives we will be able to take out of 2020 to make our businesses and economy stronger in the long run. Please continue to press forward, get creative, think outside the box!

Do not let fear or any stigma over this virus prevent you from supporting your friends, family, and local community in business. Just be sure to take our Provincial health leaders’ recommended safety precautions seriously. Every business I can think of has implemented new policies and procedures to ensure they are able to continue doing business safely for their staff and customers. Let us make it worth their while. I do believe we are much better equipped to live with the virus now than where we were back in the middle of March. We are more educated, and better equipped to continue living a new normal while keeping our economy open for business. Please
