Noreen Bridgette “Lumpy” Maddox-Johnson Devoted Mother, Wife, Believer and Caregiver Sunrise: September 14, 1959 | Sunset: February 5, 2022 Noreen Maddox-Johnson, 62 was called home to our Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2022. She was born on September 14, 1959, in Wilmington, Delaware to William “Dutch” Burton and Mary Lindo. In 1977 she graduated from Wilmington High School. Noreen married Keith William Johnson on July 13, 1996, where they enjoyed 25 years of marriage. She worked at Dart First State Transportation, City of Wilmington Department of Parks and Recreation and The Christiana School District for 20 years, where she retired as a Paraprofessional. Noreen was an active member of Bethel A.M.E. Church serving in multiple capacities, including The Bethel Voices of Light, Marriage Ministry and working in Bethel’s front office. In her free time she enjoyed volunteering with different church ministries, being a traveling AAU mom for her son’s basketball team, perusing Facebook, dining at her favorite restaurants with her husband and spending time with her granddaughter, Jhamya. Noreen will especially be remembered for her service to God and church. She was a mother to many that crossed her path that needed understanding and a helping hand. Noreen accepted and embraced them as her own and with her husband, Keith, they opened their home to many. Noreen had a fiery spirit, very blunt but encouraging. She loved to travel, have a good time, was the life of the party, and always brought her signature potato salad! She took pride in her appearance and was always sharp/fly. She enjoyed shopping for outfits, jewelry, pocketbooks, and perfume. She would give you her last and despite her circumstances she was a prayer warrior who showed immeasurable strength, loved God’s people, and had the heart of a true worshiper. Noreen is survived by her husband Keith Johnson; children Brandon Maddox, Jamal Maddox and Javayon Johnson; grandchild Jhamya Maddox; brother Richard Cephas; stepsister Kathy West; 9 nephews and 2 nieces.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Romans 8:18

Faithful Servant With a heart of gold and that million dollar smile, God whispered softly in your ear “Come go with me my child,” Where we are going There is no tears, sickness or pain, The sun shines day and night and it hardly ever rains, Your mother will be there and your father will be there too, And all our relatives are waiting on you, True and Faithful Servant Your work here on earth is done, You ran the good race, Now get your rest, Faithful Servant... Your victory is won! –Parthenia Dixon

MY WIFE Hand in hand we walk together, God’s grace warms us from above. It’s him I thank each day I wake for blessing me with all your love. The sunshine in my morning and the bird that sings my song. In this life when I am troubled, through God it’s you who keeps me strong. The wind beneath my wings as this eagle takes to flight. You are the stars that brighten up my sky in the darkness of the night. The mother of my children and the air that gives me life. My truest friend of all... my heart, my soul, my wife.
