30 DAYS OF CREATIVITY
For my final major project I’m producing a 30 day journal of my designs, which is a different design each days for 30 days. This book will give you an inside of my life and what I get up to for 30 days. Inside the book also contains all different types of creative things such as illustrations, photography, art, web design, painting and many more.
My name is Brandon Trump and I’m a student at Canterbury college studying graphic design. For the past two years iv learnt how to become a better graphic designer and a better thinker, which has aloud me to come up with theses designs.

MISSING TYPE - I got the idea of this font as I was on the train looking out the window at the tracks. I noticed that a couple of the tracks were missing and at the same time I had my sketchbook out so I started to draw train tracks which then lead to a font.

For part of my type project, I had to find a famous book, which dint have the best book cover and re-design it for a poster. I looked at many books but typography sketchbook was the one that stood out for me. I started my design off, by coming up with many pages of thumbnails then narrowed it down to my top 5. Once I chose my top 5 designs, I got my class to pick my best thumbnail then I developed it up. I added a small description of the book into the poster, so that people would know what the poster is for.

The graphics and Art department in my college held a self portrait exhibition, were we was aloud to enter any self portraits designs. I wanted to experiment using different materials, so I used Photoshop to merge photography and charcoal drawings together.

For my fourth day I looked all over the internet for a company that dint have any good advertisement for there products. So I came across Lucozade and came up with a illustration, which I started off using pen.

I decided to create a foldable font when I saw a strip of paper on the floor that looked like the letter N. I initially created several of the letters by hand, exploring the different folded angles. I quickly decided that I preferred 90 degree folds as these were cleaner in appearance than 45 degrees and the angles were supported by squared horizontal or vertical lines. After I had decided on a method and a style to my fonts I transferred them into Illustrator as vector graphics. I had to make sure each letter was the same sizes, I had trouble with letters like M which had a wider letter-space, it’s also my favourite character.

I spent the whole day coming up with illustrations that I place onto T-shirt. I chose this one because it stood out from the other, so I developed it in illustrator and made it vector.

This ides came from my sketchbook, then I decided to develop it using illustrator to make it vector. I decided to use bright colours like orange to make it pop out more. I also added a plug at the end to make the design look more like a cable.

TRIP TO PICK ME UP For this day I visited the Pick Me Up Exhibition in London which is UK’s most original contemporary graphic art events. The event is on for only 11 days, were they celebrate graphic art, design and illustration. You can catch many well know London artists there including Rob Flowers and brothers of the strip.

G E O M T R Y - S H A P E S I started to make a shape that would never end, but I noticed that it wasn’t really going well so I divided the shape in half then added a gradient to certain sides for a darker and lighter effect.

I got asked to come up with some vector logos and images to place on a t shirt. The client was pleased with my work and got them printed for this company called paradox.

Black hole typeface all started from this sketch I did on the train last year then I found it under my bed and decided to make a Type Face out of it. I developed it in illustrator, so that it would stay vector when zoomed in.

A D V E R T I Z I N G - P O S T E R Advertising poster for Disclosure new album called Tower Blocks which has this maze type image in the center. I’ve used geometry to come up with this shape which has layer on top of layer but looks like its all on one level.

Trip to Brighton For my final major project I went on a trip to Brighton to collect primary research. I found this gallery shop called “NO WALLS� were they had a lot of work from the students of Brighton university and locals in it. I talked to a couple of students and told them was I was doing for my final major project and they gave me some good advice and showed me there journals they made in the past.

Experimenting by using different mediums to create a type poster, I started of by using acrylic paint for the background and black ink pen for the type.

C A R T O O N - I L L U S T R A T I O N Today was another day coming up with illustration. I went for the cartoon look and decided to make a ice cream man. I used illustrator to make a vector vision and then place it onto a t shirt, which will be added to my shop page on my web site.

With all the new work iv done, I wanted to create a web site for me to put them all on. I went for the portfolio look and kept it simple by having a lot of space around each box. Each box contains of a zoomed in image of a design and a small amount of description of what it is for.

The Art Direction department asked me to design a poster to advertise there Exhibition which will be held in Canterbury high street. I decided to add some photography into the design, so I got the photography department to help me out with the image. My friend asked me to design a bike pattern wallpaper for him, so that he could place on the back of posters for his bmx magazine. The print will be screen printed on the back of give away posters with information about his magazine on the over side.

I’ve been very interested in the way how shapes and geometry work together, so I have come up with a font that only contains of trapeziums and triangles. Each angle of a letter has been changed to a different shade of gray with a noise overlay.
