CATALYST Urban Farm — Spring 2018 Catalyst was a collaborative project based in Chicago, which brought the idea of vertical farming to the urban area. The proposal as focused around an existing company named Metropolis Farms, which is based in South Philadelphia. Their company works to grow produce through hydroponics systems that are housed in a warehouse. Catalyst brought these ideas to Northern Chicago in an attempt to reduce the need for transportation of produce and to educate the population on sustainability. The concept for the structure was a tiered system of levels, that was interrupted by rectilinear extrusions.

FIND THE PUN Bio-Infographic — Spring 2019 An infographic made about myself, focusing on my travel locations. The map follows the frequency and activities of where I’ve been in and around Philadelphia in the year 2018. By using data taken from Google Maps, pinpointing the locations and times of visits was made easy. The infographic surprised even me about my travel patterns.

LE PREMIER SERIF MODERNE Didot Type Specimen — Fall 2018 Le Premier Serif Moderne is a type specimen book, with the sole design being that it was no the average type specimen. For this project, I chose to emphasize the French origin of Didot and created a sheet music book. The sound of a typeface, in essence. For this project, along with emphasizing the specific feature of the glyphs featured, I decided to compose the music as well with a classical music feel.

SHRINKING Symposium Series — Fall 2018 Shrinking was designed as a symposium series with the product being a poster design and digital component found on mobile webbased platforms. The symposium itself was on the topic of Wearable Technology, more specifically how this technology is growing smaller in size while expanding in ingenuity. This exact topic was the concept for the design, in which the poster itself would be able to shrink and expand. Through the use of a custom made grid, and a scored, origami pattern, the physical poster is able to fold in on itself and bounce back to an open form. The concept is also found in the symposium’s title, in which the letterforms take geometric shapes and begin to form in on themselves.

BALLADS 1 LP Redesign — Fall 2018 The process of redesigning an album cover was an interesting challenge, as many album covers are the whole identity of the music within. I chose to redesign the album Ballads 1 by Joji, which was relatively new. The concept was focused more on the artist than it was the music. Joji’s story is one of growth and defining himself in a time where he felt lost. In this case, I decided to go with the idea of Light in the Darkness where his evolution as an artist helped to get him through trying times. The concept used neon lights as a medium to convey this idea.

AURELIA Computational Kite — Fall 2018 Aurelia was a collaboration project between Bachelor of Architecture students and Masters of Textile graduate students that was showcased at DesignPhiladelphia 2018. Combining the graduate students’ knowledge of material systems with our knowledge of computational and structural design techniques, we were able to create and showcase the design of a kite. The concept behind Aurelia was bio-inspired by the form of a jellyfish and utilizes a layered system of a variety of density fabrics and an internal structural system. The outer layer utilized iridescent cellophane to restrict airflow and create a visually reflective aesthetic.

EQUINOX The 118th John Stewardson Memorial Fellowship in Architecture - 2019 Equinox was my submission for the 118th John Stewardson Memorial Fellowship in Architecture. This year’s competition revolved around designing the Novo Library in Renovo, PA. The library is intended to be the transition from the traditional library, to the advancement of a technological age. With this advancement of technological endeavors and cultures, the acclimation towards these modern practices becomes quite difficult. The concept of Equinox aims to become a steady transitional learning center that focuses on this process. To make this transition more comfortable, contemporary technologies are supported by views of the natural environment around the structure.
