Project Preface This piece was part of a competition held by Philadelphia University for its 2nd year architecture students in their Visuals class. The project required students to choose either a pre-existing cabin or to create one themselves, and to place it within one of Pennsylvania’s state parks. The students would then re-create all of the original drawings, a digital model of the piece, and renderings to make a presentation board which would then be judged. This project was creating using Sunset Cabin, designed by Taylor Smyth Architects. The site chosen was in Worlds End Park.

Original Cabin
The cabin is located on the edge of Loyalsock Creek facing north-west, where the main windows have a view between two mountains. This was done in order to create a perfect view of the sun setting over the horizon, in the most tranquil and peaceful way possible.

Sun Diagram
This diagram shows how light enters the windows through the wood panel sun shades that cover a majority of the exterior. This particular view is a section from the eastern side of the cabin.

Project Preface This piece was the first project in the Visuals 1 class. It was relatively simple, the project was an introduction into learning Rhinocerous and it’s tools.

Project Preface This piece was the first project in Design 3. The task was to create a two story row home using only a single sheet of 12x30 cardboard. It was overall very interesting trying to cut and fold the cardboard in a fashion that would still hold together, and still maintain the appearance of a home. My focus was around creating something very structural based.

Project Preface This piece was the second project in Design 3. To start the project off, the students were tasked with creating a row home in the Northern Liberties area of Philadelphia, PA. To make things interesting, the main structure of the row home had to be made from pre-manafactured, used shipping containers. The project then took a turn where the shipping container idea was thrown out, and the site changed.

The idea behind the apartment plans was to have the two families living in a single split structure that would overlap geometries in order to provide equal, and ample space. PRODUCED BY AN AUTODESK EDUCATIONAL PRODUCT

Project Preface This piece was the final project for Design 3, first implemented this semester. The idea was to create a culture center for Syrian refuges who were coming to America due to the turmoil in their country. There would not only be apartments for the refuges, but a portion created to blend the public and private spaces together. The site was located in Center City, Philadelphia. My concept was to carve a central atrium from rectangular mass, through the extrusion of overlapping geometries. This woulc create a connection between public and private spaces, through a slow integration.

Description I’m a second year architecture student at Philadelphia University. I was born in New York City, and moved to Virginia Beach when I was thirteen. How I wound up in Pennsylvania? I have literally no clue. My collegiate achievments include becoming the second in command of Sigma Nu as a sophomore, being Treasurer for the Honors Association at PhilaU, being a member of Sigma Alpha Pi, and learning how to not eat or sleep for days on end, just to finish the next Design project. Interests My personal interest include things such as learning more about the world; listening to interesting music that ranges from Norwegian Black Metal, to Broadway, to Disney, and K-Pop; I like turtles; I like talking to buildings; food is nice; and if I wasn’t spending this much money on school and making an attempt on creating an awesome future for myself, I’d play Fallout literally 24/7.
