Fall 2013 Weekly • Anthology Film Archives • 32 2nd Avenue • $6 All Night
The NewFilmmakers Screening Series selects films and videos often overlooked by traditional film festivals. NewFilmmakers NY screens every week at Anthology Film Archives and usually has its Documentary Series at 6:00, Short Film Program at 7:00, and Feature Presentations at 8:00. The NewFilmmakers Series began in 1998 and over the past fifteen years has screened over 600 feature and 2,000 short films. In 2000 we brought the Havana Film Festival to New York and 2002 we started NewFilmmakers Los Angeles. Many well-known shorts and features including Blair Witch and Too Much Sleep have had their initial screenings at NewFilmmakers. NewFilmmakers LA now screens monthly at the AT&T Center in Hollywood. Recently we began NewFilmmakersOnline, which gives filmmakers the opportunity to exhibit and distribute their films directly to the public. “Hart Island: An American Cemetery” is featured on our cover this quarter and is self distributed on NewFilmmakers Online. Melinda Hunt is an Alumnus who was first screened at NewFilmmakers NY in the Winter of 2008 and again in September of 2011 when she won NewFilmmakers Online Flm of the Month. Congratulations on all your success.
