NewFilmmakers presents Another Experiment By Women

6:00PM NEWFILMMAKERS SPECIAL PROGRAM

ANOTHER EXPERIMENT BY WOMEN presents a show with guest curator SASHA WATER FREYER Try a Little Tenderness is a selection of old and new works in 16mm film and video about being vulnerable – exposed and unsafe. Susceptible, yet ready. The program is a personal and collective response to the ontology of artistic canons in and of themselves. It presents a selection of works that cross and expose the boundaries by including Net Art, music video, performance-documentation and video art alongside more traditional approaches to experimental cinema. These nine works address, in very different ways and formats, acts of being naked to the world – the human body in search of love, food, adventure or acceptance; the human challenge to “acceptable” conduct based on race and gender stereotypes. Try It – Try a Little Tenderness. Greta Snider PORTLAND Sasha Waters Freyer OUR SUMMER MADE HER LIGHT ESCAPE Kelly Gallagher PEARL PISTOLS (2014, 3 minutes) Tova Mozard SONG ABOUT THE FUTILITY OF THE HUMAN ENDEAVOR (2006, 6 minutes) Alma Alloro and Jennifer Chan ALPHA GIRLS (2014, 4 minutes) Ira Eduardovna TO PRAGUE WITH LOVE (2014, 12 minutes) Laurel Nakadate UNTITLED (2010, 7 minutes) Leslie Hall TIGHT PANTS/BODY ROLLS (2010, 3 minutes) Roger Beebe HISTORIA CALAMITATUM (THE STORY OF MY MISFORTUNES), PART 2: THE CRYING GAME (2014, 22 minutes)

9:00PM NEWFILMMAKERS FEATURE PRESENTATION Cynthia Hsuing ARE YOU FOR GREAT SEX Are You For Great Sex? is a boundary-pushing, raw, and sophisticated sexual love story told from a uniquely fresh, woman’s point of view. What is the meaning of great sex? Is it just a primal instinctual act? Or is there something deeper that a great sexual connection tells us about ourselves? There’s great sex, and then there’s unforgettable sex.

Call for Interns NewFilmmakers New York is looking for interns! Come join our team and learn about the world of film exhibition. NewFilmmakers New York is a Film Series screening at Anthology Film Archives which was start 18 years ago by NYU Film Alumni. We screen weekly throughout the year and need interns to work in the office and at our weekly events. Some of the intern duties will involve marketing/publicity, Social Media, and Film Programming. This is a great opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of film festivals, how they operate, and why your film does (or doesn’t) get programmed. Interested candidates should email a cover letter and availability to Brandon@newfilmmakers.com.
