”YOU CAN JAIL A REVOLUTIONARY, BUT YOU CAN’T JAIL THE REVOLUTION! YOU CAN KILL A REVOLUTIONARY, BUT YOU CAN’T KILL THE REVOLUTION!! ! “Fred Hampton
This Summer we are proud to announce a partnership with the Black Panther Party of New York. They will be co-producing a night of film on July 2nd. “In The Land of the Free” This 2010 documentary (narrated by Samuel L. Jackson) is about the Angola 3, three prisoners who while serving their time in Angola State Prison (the United States’ most notorious penal colony) joined the BPP and participated in non- violent resistance campaigns protesting the terrible conditions, prisoner abuse and sexual slavery rampant inside the prison. As a result they were falsely accused of murder while in prison and have all been, with the exception of Robert King who was released in 2001, serving the last 38 years in solitary confinement. “BUT YOU CAN’T JAIL A REVOLUTION” A TV network investigation team visits a small Louisiana town to film racial profiling and the police killing of an unarmed grandfather on his porch. There they find out that the town is also home to the grave of Black Panther Party Leader,Fred Hampton, the dynamic Illinois State Chapter Chairman. Hampton was killed in an illegal Chicago police raid in 1969. Activists around the world remember “Chairman Fred.” But so does the Klu Klux Klan. See the shocking details of the desecration of “Chairman Fred’s grave “Voices of Three Political Prisoners” Jalil Abdul Muntaqim (formerly Anthony Bottom) was 19 years old when he was arrested. He is a former member of the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army, and is one of the longest held political prisoners in the world. Tony Kelly A LONG ROAD HOME (2014, 44 minutes, video) On October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy ravaged Long Island leaving thousands without power, food, or gas. Many others experienced severe flooding which either destroyed their possessions and parts of their home, or claimed their home all together. This is the story about these people. The people who weren’t fortunate enough to just get the power back in a week and continue with everyday life. The people who have spent months away from home. The people who look to their own pockets to pay for damages not covered by insurance companies or the government. These are the people whose stories need to be shared. We set out on a mission to inform the residents of Long Island and even the world on how Hurricane Sandy may have happened over a year ago, but its toll on south shore residents is far from over.
