THE idea to create a clothing brand all started off WITH a conversation about street culture, in A hazy coffee shop back in early 2012. This idea quickly developed into a collaboration between school friends, Marlando, Ray and Dante. It WAS ALWAYS something they enjoyed working on together; enablING them to do more of what they love – Creating simplistic apparel that like minded people can resonate with. 2
“The origins of the name ‘Brand X’ came about whilst reading up on the late Human Rights activist, Malcolm X, who adopted the LETTER ‘X’ as his NEW surname to distance himself from his original surname, Little – WHICH, he BELIEVED to be the SLAVE NAME PASSED ONTO HIS FAMILY. IT WAS this THOUGHT PROVOKING REVELATION OF DEFIANCE AND LIBERATION THAT INSPIRED US TO USE THE NAME ‘BRAND X’. ” MARLANDO REECE, FOUNDER 3
