Story and Photos By K.D. Michaels, Staff Writer Many braved the cold temperatures to enjoy the Festive Friday Christmas Tree Lighting in downtown Branson as the Liberty Plaza Christmas tree was lit. The 30-foot tall tree, featuring more than 18,000 white lights, was officially lit in a fun-filled ceremony. The tree’s decor includes 72 red bows, signifying the city’s 72nd Adoration Parade, set for December, and serving as a symbol of hope and unity to our community
and nation. Those in attendance enjoyed complimentary refreshments, door prizes, and music by the world famous Platters, who perform at the nearby Hot Hits Theater in downtown Branson. DJ Matt Duncan and a representative from Dick’s 5 & 10, a favorite downtown Branson store, conducted the official countdown to the lighting event. The tree lighting event was sponsored by the Downtown Branson Betterment Association.
