No Amendment Charges Schools work to tight budgets and when the big decision has been made to proceed with a new website, prospectus or advertising campaign, you need to know you are not going to blow your allocation on amendments. We know you’re going to make some amendments, that’s how great design works. But if the project specification hasn’t changed, you pay the price we quoted whether you make 10 changes, or one change.

Burgess Hill School for Girls has always had a nursery for boys and girls, but with the need for day care for children from aged 2½ in high demand, it was time to re-brand and raise awareness that boys are welcome. This new, purpose built environment needed a new name, branding, a website and printed material. We came up with the name Nursery 51, which is not only unique when comparing it to the names of nurseries in general, but refers to the number of weeks the nursery is open every year, immediately appealing to parents that need full or part time day care for their children.

The fun, cute branding appeals to parents of boys as well as girls and portrays the message of lively, active children. From here, we designed and built the website, created and printed a mini prospectus and stationery as well as other promotional material.

“Our nursery needed a new name and branding to appeal to boys as well as girls. It was a very exciting time for us, and we all loved the purpose built environment for the children. Brave Thinking really considered what our name needed to offer and came up with Nursery 51, which is brilliant. The new website is vibrant and embraces the element of being active. Thank you!” Mrs Suzanne Arnold – Nursery Manager

“Working with Brave Thinking is so straight forward, nothing is too much trouble and with a brochure like ours with so much information it is important to have great attention to detail. We have worked with them for a number of years now and plan on doing so in the future.” Jane Carroll – Membership Services Director

Downsend School is a very proud and successful school with an equally proud heritage, stretching back to 1891. The time had come however, to revise their current identity and bring the school’s brand and appearance into today’s modern era, without losing its heritage. Tackling first of all the Downsend crest/logo, our research concluded that the white dog was popular, synonymous and integral to the Downsend School brand. We proceeded to remodel and modernise a new version of the dog whilst also staying true to its design and keeping it instantly recognisable. The new branding then led into the production of a wonderful new school prospectus, information booklets, adverts and other marketing collateral.

“BraveThinking won the pitch for this project based on some very creative and distinctive marketing strategies. Indeed, we felt Brave Thinking respected, understood and knew how best to evolve the proud Downsend School brand. We are all extremely happy with what has been produced for us and feel this new material and crest compliments our school and ethos beautifully.” Donna Wardell – Marketing Director

“Priory Prep needed an agency that could offer the full service in terms of marketing. When Brave Thinking came to see me and explained they also provide copywriting, I breathed a sigh of relief.” Saskia Jordan – Marketing Manager

Priory Preparatory School provides approximately 200 boys aged two to thirteen with an education that values them as individuals within a caring, inspiring community. With this in mind, the School’s newsletter, Highlights, is produced quarterly and provides existing and future pupils and parents an insight into life at Priory Prep. After spending time at Priory, gathering information from staff and pupils about sports events, concerts, special achievements and social occasions, we refreshed the title font and the overall look throughout the magazine. We write the copy and supply the printed magazine.

A very challenging but exciting brief was presented to us for this brand new school. They required a suitable and vibrant brand identity created to accompany the visions and values this new school were aspiring towards. In addition to this logo, we created a logo and identity that could be exploited in all elements of their school, from displays and marketing collateral to a new term prospectus, which was the next project we were asked to produce for them.

“We knew of Brave Thinking’s work in the education sector and hoped they would be able to create for us the vibrant and dynamic image we sought. They did not disappoint and we now have an exciting theme in which to push forward our school and sixth form college.” Helen Everitt – Deputy Head

In addition to creating this new identity for Oriel High School, we were asked if we could produce something similar for Oriel Sixth Form College that was a separate and vibrant identity, yet familiar enough to clearly be identified as part of the Oriel brand.

Burgess Hill School for Girls prides itself on proactive marketing, keeping it at the forefront of clients’ minds and of prospective parents. As well as printed material promoting open days, the Sixth Form and School in general, their new website has been launched. Their latest campaign highlights how a Burgess Hill School for Girls education can enable you to fulfil your dreams. With the choice of subjects and support from teachers it is as if your daughter has received a tailored education.

The advertising campaign features in quality lifestyle magazines including Sussex Life and on billboards in and around target catchment areas, such as Hayward’s Heath railway station. The campaign appeals to pupils, present and future, as well as their parents. Seeing a bright future, with perhaps the chance to work towards a dream beyond a fantastic education is a powerful message.

This campaign was to highlight the School’s strengths in sport and music. An edgy campaign appealing to not just parents, but their daughters too. Adverts were placed on the inside back cover of quality life style magazines such as Sussex Life, ETC, Absolute Brighton and Fine Sussex, as well as on billboards in Haywards Heath, a catchment area for Burgess Hill School for Girls. The campaign ran for 12 months.

The School continues to raise its profile through high level above the line marketing activities and we are proud and honoured to be part of this.

“Having an excellent reputation, we wanted to shout about it. We heard on the grapevine about the work Brave Thinking had done within the education sector and were impressed with the websites and marketing we had seen. Brave Thinking has proved to be the perfect partner in helping us promote our school.” Ann Aughwane – Headmistress

This was a brave, unbranded advertising campaign, appealing to the reader’s curiosity. Two ad campaigns were placed in high-end lifestyle magazines and on carefully selected prime site billboards. The campaign was to tap into the search for the ultimate Christmas gift and to find out what

the ultimate Christmas gift is for your daughter. They would use the QR codes or visit the micro website (theultimatechristmasgift.co.uk), which was designed and built specifically for the campaign. From here, there was a link to the Burgess Hill School for Girls website. The number of visits to the website increased, establishing the brand in peoples minds.

The brief for this project was initially quite basic; to refresh, yet preserve their historical identity, produce a new brochure and website. Upon initial consultation we voiced our concerns that their current visual identity would not adequately back up not just their visions and values, but any new material and website we produced for them.

Consequently, we were tasked with creating for Dorset House, a refreshed, vibrant and fitting new identity to accurately portray the visions and values of Dorset House School.

“We initially approached Brave Thinking to produce for us a brochure and website. What we received however, was a thorough, honest and comprehensive consultation that has resulted in our corporate image, brochure and website being refreshed to a visually competitive grade that reflects the high standards and ethics in which we hold our school Richard Brown – Headmaster

Postal Strike is an effective method of contacting all your parents, pupils and staff with school news, term dates and important school information through email. If you have a database of prospective parents and students, you can email details of open day times, new prospectus details or enrolment closing dates. Each email type can be designed for its selected audience with your school brand and character. This can be backed up by tweets and posts, but an email arriving is a direct way of informing your target audience and you can tell if it has been read, deleted or acted upon. The moment your campaign is sent, you can access reports that show you exactly how your subscribers are interacting with it. You can see who is opening it, what parts of the campaign they are interested in, who forwarded it to a friend, unsubscribed, bounced out or even those people who marked it as spam. Every email you send includes a single-click unsubscribe link and our preference centre feature lets your subscribers manage their own subscription. You can also see the timeline of exactly when these occurred. When you start to compare results over time, trends appear and you can see what is working and what isn’t. Postal Strike is a powerful tool to make the most of your database.
