DEAR FRIENDS AND MUSIC LOVERS, This Annual Report of the Bravo! Vail Music Festival looks back on the past year of exceptional artistry, thrilling performances, innovative programming, and educational activities for all ages. It is also a window into the thought and hard work that it takes to deliver all these activities for the benefit of our Vail Valley community in partnership with local and international supporters, artists, and music lovers.
CAITLIN M U R R AY Executive Director
The 2018 season featured tremendous energy and monumental offerings from our resident orchestras. The Academy of St Martin in the Fields concluded their historic three-year residency with violinist Joshua Bell performing concertos on each program. Both the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and The Philadelphia Orchestra featured stunning soloists making triumphant returns and Bravo! Vail debuts, and remarkably diverse programs showcasing masterpieces of popular and classical music. And the New York Philharmonic brought the worldwide celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday to Bravo’s audiences. Bravo! Vail’s tradition of excellent chamber music flourished everywhere, from the formal elegance of the Donovan Pavilion and private home soirées to the exciting energy of the Vail Ale House, even to streets and farmer’s markets. At interfaith chapels, senior centers, libraries, schools, and hospitals, Bravo! Vail is proud to serve our entire community of music-lovers of all ages and foster a life-long appreciation for the arts.
