Job applicants with workforce credentials are twice as likely to be hired than applicants with no credentials. HEALTHcare Registered Medical Assistant Program The Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) program is a 720-hour hybrid program designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed for the RMA exam, and to enable graduates to function effectively as medical assistants. The Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is offered through the Association of Medical Technologists (AMT).

Learn reception and clerical skills, scheduling, customer service, OSHA and HIPPA regulations, and medical business office skills such as financial management, basic medical coding, and law and ethics. GO Virginia Cyber Security Grant Selected individuals can get cyber security training for $300, thanks to a $200,000 GO Virginia Cyber Security grant. The goal of the grant is to train and employ 50 Tier I Cyber Security Analysts by July 2020, and a local commercial company partner plans to offer jobs in Harrisonburg or Waynesboro to successful graduates based on customer demand. Anyone interested in pursuing a job in cyber security in the Shenandoah Valley may apply, and the ideal candidate has some information technology or security education and/or experience. AVIATION Introduction to Drone Operations Are you interested to learn how to fly a Drone with skill while ensuring a safe and legal operation? Drones serve a variety of essential purposes in a number of industries, whether it’s real estate, agriculture, engineering or media and the industrial applications of UAV technology will continue to grow. Learn and practice the basic welding processes most commonly used in industrial fabrication: Oxy-Fuel Welding, Brazing and Cutting along with Plasma Cutting, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (including Flux-Core Welding). Covers safety procedures, common shop procedures, welding tools and equipment, and welding drawing interpretation. (AWS FCAW certification) Includes an 8-week basic skills class and an 8-week intermediate skills class. Classes run early Feb–Nov with day and evening hours available.

Focuses on the techniques used for welding pipe. The shielded metal arc (SMAW) welding process is used to perform practice welds on pipe diameters from 2-12 inches. Basic pipe-fitting practices will be demonstrated using butt weld and socket weld fittings to progress through learning to weld pipe in horizontal and vertical positions. Oneon-one coaching, welding demonstrations, welding videos, and the Lincoln VRTEX Welding Simulator will be used to illustrate the techniques the student must follow to successfully pass the 6G qualification test. Introduction to Welding Fabrication (GMAW) $375 FastForward Tuition/$1125 Full Tuition

Focuses on welding and fabrication skills used in building welded metal projects. Students will create a cost sheet of materials, factor in total weight of their project, cut and tack-weld all components together, and make final welds to complete the job. Welding safety and various welding processes (GTAW, GMAW and SMAW) and safe shop practices will be discussed and demonstrated. The class will also have a team project utilizing the Ercolina Pipe Bending system where each team will build a section of handrail according to shop drawings. This project will include job planning, material cost estimation, pipe-bending, and team building skills. Training on all types of weld shop equipment will be included and students will create a small welded assembly to keep. Introduction to Sanitary Pipe Welding (GTAW) $389 FastForward Tuition/$1167 Full Tuition

Provides the student with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to do both manual and orbital GTAW welding of carbon steel pipe and sanitary stainless tubing. The GTAW welding process will be used for practice welds on pipe diameters from 2-6 inches on butt weld, socket weld, and groove weld pipe fittings. Walking the cup welding technique, manual purge welding set up, weld parameters, purge gas verification, flow rates, and basic pipefitting practices will be covered. Orbital welding training will be covered on stainless sanitary tubing using an Orbitalum Orbital Welding system. This class is designed to introduce a student to machine tools and machining. Students will learn about precision measuring tools and how to use them, including: how to obtain precise measurements, how to read and understand mechanical drawings, what tolerances are and how a machinist makes parts within specific dimensions. Machine shop safety and safe practices will be discussed and demonstrated. The types of machine tools that are used to create complex components in industry and how they work will be covered, as well as cutting speeds and feed rates for milling and turning operations. The NIMS Machining credential program will be explained and the first NIMS project the students will make will be reviewed. Turning Operations 2: Chucking (Machine Tool Practices) $233 FastForward Tuition/$699 Full Tuition

This intermediate level machining course explains the operation of the manual lathe that will include: turning safety, lathe controls, single-point threading, tapping, fits and tolerances, measurement, process control, tooling and lathe set-up. Proper set-up and use of a four-jaw chuck will be demonstrated and explained. Many lathe operations use tooling with carbide inserts, but a machinist must know the proper sequence for grinding the surfaces of a lathe tool, applying the proper rake angles. Tool grinding is discussed and demonstrated. Prerequisite – Fundamentals of Fabrication, Machine Tools I & II, Milling and Turning Between Centers. PERSONAL ENRICHMENT Attention Artists! Virginia Artists in the Marketplace (VA-AIM) is the first residency program of its kind in the Shenandoah Valley. The 2019 program is presented in collaboration with Arts Council of the Valley, BRCC and studioELL, and will bring a new cohort together for a week in May 2019 to dive deep into their studio practices and what it means to be a professional artist in today’s contemporary moment. Residency includes lectures, workshops and seminars on a variety of professional practice topics: artist resumes/CVs, artist statements, branding, websites and web

identities, applying to opportunities, exhibitions, and taxes and liability, among other topics. The residency will conclude with a group exhibit at Arts Council of the Valley in January 2020. Theatre Workshop for Youth: Cymbeline (ages 9-18) An exciting opportunity for students ages 9-18 to participate in a semesterlong workshop culminating in a Fine Arts Center Theatre performance. A 13-week program that includes dramatic exercises and rehearsal for a production of William Shakespeare’s Cymbeline. In a most fairy tale like adventure, this wonderful tragicomedy-romance deals with innocence, jealousy, war, and true love. Cymbeline is the King of Britain; his first wife died, and he married a wicked queen. Imogen, Cymbeline’s daughter, is in love with Posthumus, but her stepmother wants her to marry Cloten, the queen’s son. When Imogen secretly marries Posthumus, the king has him banished.
