WELDING & MACHINING WELDING FF WELDING FUNDAMENTALS Learn how to weld with hands-on practice in the basic welding processes most commonly used in industrial fabrication. The class covers welding safety, Fab shop equipment operation, weld procedures and weld symbol interpretation. Students will practice to take FCAW qualification tests with Instructor approval.

FF PIPE WELDING I: SMAW Focuses on the techniques used for welding pipe. The shielded metal arc welding process is used to perform practice welds on pipe diameters from 2 to 12 inches. Basic pipe-fitting practices will be demonstrated using butt weld and socket weld fittings to progress through learning to weld pipe in horizontal and vertical positions. One-on-one coaching, welding demonstrations and welding videos will be used to illustrate the techniques the student must follow to successfully pass the 6G qualification test.

Focuses on welding and fabrication skills used in building welded metal projects. Students will create a working drawing and bill of materials, factor in total costs and weight of their project, cut and tack-weld all components together, and make final welds to complete the job. Welding safety using various welding processes and safe shop practices will be discussed and demonstrated.

Provides the student with the knowledge and handson experience needed to do both manual and orbital GTAW welding of carbon steel pipe and sanitary stainless tubing.

FF MACHINE TOOL I The fundamentals for manual machine tool practices for the lathe, mill, and drill press will be explained and demonstrated during this class. Ready for take-off into an exciting career? BRCC’s commercial pilot program provides hands-on pilot training to ensure you’re up and flying right away with the right stuff. Our knowledgeable instructors focus on providing practical learning with in-flight training that will prepare you for a successful aviation career. BRCC partners with Blue Ridge Aviation to offer the flight training components of this program; students are required to pay additional fees directly to them as the contracted flight school.

The Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) course focuses on the material handling portion of global supply chain logistics. It describes the foundational knowledge that frontline material handling workers should master to perform well. Once this knowledge is gained, students can look forward to a rewarding career. These careers provide good wages and benefits and can clear a pathway to higher levels of skills and responsibilities.

The Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) course addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled frontline material handling workers in supply chain warehouses and distribution centers. Specific instruction includes product receiving, product storage, inventory control, evaluation of transportation modes, dispatching and tracking. This newly designed curriculum also includes a three-day forklift training of stand up and sit down machines and current employability skills training. The Certified Logistics Associate course is a prerequisite to the Certified Logistics Technician course. COMMERCIAL DRIVING CDL LEARNER’S PERMIT TRAINING This course is required to retake the DMV Commercial Driver General Knowledge test. If you have been unsuccessful in passing the General Knowledge portion of the CDL Learner’s Permit testing, this 40-hour DMV-approved curriculum will offer valuable knowledge & allow you to retake the learner’s permit test. ORGANIC VEGETABLE GARDENING & EDIBLE LANDSCAPING LIVE ONLINE In these trying times, knowing how and where your food is grown has become especially important and difficult to discern. In this innovative online class, focus will be on organic growing methods, using native plants to attract native pollinators, and beneficial insects to your garden. Discover several options for sustainable and organic growing techniques, including container gardens, as well as small to large-scale gardens. We will discuss seed starting, pest management, soil, fertilizers, and more. Learning how to grow your own vegetables and fruits is fun and rewarding, and gives you a sense of security, knowing how your fresh food is grown. In addition to a designated area of your property being set aside for a garden, you will also discover how to incorporate some edibles (mostly unique fruit) into your landscape design. YOUTH THEATRE WORKSHOP FOR YOUTH: ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND FOR BOYS AND GIRLS (AGES 9-16) If you are between the ages of 9 and 16 (grades 4-11), you can participate in a 13-week workshop culminating in a Fine Arts Center Theatre performance! In addition to dramatic exercises designed to hone acting skills, you’ll rehearse a wonderful adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s beloved Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Follow that rabbit to a delightful, entertaining world of childhood fantasies. Alice journeys into a world of talking animals, comic royalty and races where the contestants run in circles! There are also the Mad Hatter’s frantic tea party, the watch-carrying White Rabbit and talking flowers. Along the way, Alice must deal with a sneezing duchess and a baby that turns into a pig! The finale has Alice watching a trial, but she suddenly finds herself the accused! The play gives a modern view to an old classic, where nonsense makes quite good sense.
