Dubai Monday 30th April Maurice Flanagan, Executive Vice Chairman of Emirates Airlines was ‘overwhelmed’ after receiving the 2007 AHIC Lifetime Achievement Award from HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation on Sunday.
“He is more of a legend actually. His commitment to the airline has helped develop the hotel industry here in Dubai,” explained Sheikh Ahmed. The award was presented to Flanagan in front of 950 delegates from 47 countries by the Executive Chairman of Jumeirah Group, Gerald Lawless. Who summed up the Emirates veteran’s contribution by saying: “The airline went from two
leased planes to a recent report of $8.3 billion in turnover and $1 billion, thanks to Maurice.” An audio and video show highlighted his passion and the growth that Emirates Airlines has seen under his stewardship. “It has not only grown to a global airline, but to a force in the world of tourism and travel industry,” said Jean-Claude Baumgarten, President,
