I am a highly motivated person and a self-starter and have a successful track record of delivering quality results. I can operate effectively as an individual or as a key member of a project team. I self-tough all the software I use, and I am quite fast in learning while working on them. I love designing with the limits and through the compromises that come out during the planning process, constantly going back to the beginning of it and always searching for the better solution.

Darsena Vecchia residences and commercial spaces developed along the seafront overlooking the Old Dock in Genova. ENG

The proposal for the new building for residences and commercial spaces is developed along the seafront overlooking the Old Dock in Genoa. The lot of interest is a long, narrow quay, which is projected into the old port of Genoa, characterized by strong differentiation of aspects and uses all along its introns. Each side of the pier has very strong and distinct characters, to the North the imposing presence of the causeway that divides the city of Genoa from the sea, on the west side the Old Dock full of small fishing boats that frames the new Sea Museum, to the East of the basin noisy of the dry dock which is still in used and, finally, to the South, overlooks the harbor and the famous lighthouse of Genoa symbol of the city itself. The building was then conceived and designed starting with the study of context. The concept of the building is related to the idea of a telescope, and for this reason the building is �

Il progetto per il nuovo edificio per residenze e spazi commerciali si sviluppa sul lungo mare che si affaccia sulla Vecchia Darsena di Genova. Il lotto d’interesse è un molo lungo e stretto, che si proietta nel vecchio porto del capoluogo ligure, contraddistinto dalla forte differenziazione di aspetti ed usi che vi si trovano introno. Ogni lato presenta dei caratteri molto forti e distinti; a Nord la presenza imponente della Soprelevata che divide la città di Genova dal mare, a Ovest la Darsena Vecchia ricca di piccole imbarcazione di pescatori che incorniciano il nuovo Museo del Mare, a Est il rumoroso bacino di carenaggio tutt’ora usato e infine, verso Sud, la vista sul porto e sul famoso faro di Genova simbolo della città stessa. L’edificio è stato quindi pensato e progettato partendo proprio dallo studio del contesto. La costruzione è concepita come un cannocchiale e per questo motivo l'edificio è diviso in due

RESIDENCES in Genova make the building the more insulated from the noise below. At the point where the quay enlarges, the building was swept to highlight and expand the public space below. The North elevation relates to the city of Genoa and especially with the massive road system of causeway, suggesting the entry to the residence through an entrance separate from the main building that serves as a barrier between the public space and private one.

Il prospetto Nord sì relaziona con la città di Genova e in particolar modo con l’imponente sistema viario della “sopraelevata” suggerendo l’ingresso alle residenze tramite un atrio separato dall’edificio principale che funge da diaframma tra lo spazio pubblico e quello privato.

MUSEO a MADRID Museum for modern and Contemporary Art with auditorium and art spaces located in Madrid ENG The project for the Museum for Contemporary Art, located in Madrid along Calle de Carlos Arniches street, consists of a display system with related functions such as an auditorium, exhibition space and laboratory for art and a dining area. The project site is long and narrow, bordered by mid-rise residential buildings on the west side. The way the building is located on a street that leads directly to the center of Madrid connecting with the major artery Ronda de Toledo. The museum is designed in such a way as to remain within the building curtain, but tried to characterize it also through the redesign of the public space. The museum is drawn as if the three boxes containing the various functions, those exhibiting, those of the auditorium and the atrium with the area more public, is incastrassero between them so as to allow a unit, and connectivity between them. The two big blocks come with their

Il progetto per il di museo di Arte Contemporanea situato a Madrid sulla via Calle de Carlos Arniches si compone di un sistema espositivo con annesse funzioni quali un auditorium, spazi espositivi e di laboratorio per l’arte e una area ristorazione. Il sito di progetto è stretto e lungo, confinante con edifici residenziali di media altezza sul lato ovest. La via sorge il l’edificio è una delle strade che porta direttamente dal centro di Madrid connettendosi con l’importante arteria Ronda de Toledo. Il museo è concepito in modo tale da rimanere all’interno della cortina edilizia, cercando però di caratterizzarla anche attraverso il ridisegno dello spazio pubblico. Il museo è disegnato come se le tre scatole contenenti le diverse funzioni, quelle espositive, quelle dell’auditorium e l’atrio con l’area più pubblica, si incastrassero tra loro in modo da consentire un’unità e connettività tra di esse. Milano Storica building for residences and offices situated in the center of Milan in an old urban void near “Brera” ENG The building for residences and offices situated in the center of Milan in an old urban void near the Brera district. The project deals with an architectural sedimented contest in a delicate condition between the variety of historic buildings and much more recent buildings dating back to the more recent Italian architecture. The building faces the context in which it is located seeking an immediate relationship with the adjacent buildings while maintaining its distinctive character. The project is divided into two blocks, one housing offices, the other residences. The two blocks have been design such as the morphology reminiscent of the patio typology often use in ancient Milanese buildings, leaving usable the inner space between the volumes. The building is design considering 32

L’edificio per residenze e uffici sorge in un antico vuoto urbano nei pressi del quartiere Brera nel centro di Milano. Il progetto ha dovuto confrontarsi con un contesto architettonico sedimentato in una condizione delicata per la varietà di edifici storici e costruzioni risalenti ai periodi più recenti dell’architettura Italiana. L’edificio affronta il contesto in cui è situato cercando una relazione immediata con gli edifici adiacenti mantenendo un carattere distintivo proprio; il progetto è diviso in due blocchi, uno adibito a uffici, l’altro a residenze. I due blocchi hanno una morfologia che richiama la tipologia a patio molto ricorrente negli edifici milanesi, ma lasciando fruibile lo spazio interno. L’edificio considera le proporzioni degli edifici circostanti rispettando le altezze di questi, riprendendo anche il concetto di basamento e

The monolithic sensation of the building is emphasized by the use of stone giving a sense of heaviness to the two blocks then lightened by the scan rate of the window.

Urban expansion of Milano towards the the idroscalo (Milano East) 2010 THE MILANO EXPANSION Milano is an active and dynamic metropolis. The fact that is going to host the next Expo 2015 is just one of the tangible signs of the maturity and the interest that the capital of Lombardy as to keep pace with other major world metropolises. Like any great modern city, Milano is also expanding to come across the needs and requirements that a central and important city as Milano has so support. The first important argument that has to be focused on, is the fact that the problem of a city like this is not whether if it is going to expand, but rather, how it will be going to expand. This position leads to a different way of thinking a new urban scale project issues than those that could be found while trying to give answers to the first way of looking at the city (if it expands). In a recent study held at the Politecnico di Milano during the MIAW1 (Milano International Architecture Workshop) in 2010 was drawn up a possible scenario of how Milan is going to expand in the next two coming decades.

EUROPE EURO CONNECTION The Areoport_TAV system, if the good conditions of the system are going to be well exploited, is going to make this area an important center of connective, distribution, but also an important attractor pole, not only in itself but also to Milano itself. The least exploited network, respect to its great potential, is the Airport that can become a great center for communication and connectivity thanks to the fact that it is a few kilometers from core of Milano. Moving to a European capital today is becoming a very important and increasingly necessity, and moving in less time as possible is also a becoming priority for all types of travelers. The biggest lacuna for Milan is the fact that it depends on Orio al Serio (BG) an airport used mainly for domestic and European airports located at 40 Km away Milano. This means that moving from Milano to Orio al Serio takes 30-40 minutes in the improbable chance of not getting stuck in the traffic adding the additional check-in request times.

The other important system that as to taken in account is the future creation of the TAV station for Segrate. The TAV (Treno Alta VelocitĂ ) is an important network of fast connection trains that will link the most important cities in Italy but also in Europe. Moving from Orio al Serio to Linate the domestic flights and the European ones, and the presents of the TAV station is going to: firstly reduce costs and timeframes, and secondly, with the add of a good railway transport network it would facilitate the accessibility to it and also can make Milano city easily accessible bringing benefits to the economy and tourism.

ITALY EURO CONNECTION The new prospected system where the airport and the TAV station will have they primary importance is going to be a key aspect for the development of the economy and tourism of Milano. The new system is going to give a wide range of opportunities in respect to the national economic network of Italy. The TAV network is not going to give benefits to Milano, but thanks to the link that is going to have with the Linate airport, it is going to provide important benefits to the all north part of Italy. For example if there is a big convention in Brescia people from all the capitals of Europe can easily fly to the Linate airport and then take the TAV and arrive in Brescia in less time. This is an important goal, because now days there is a huge need of saving as much time as possible, and this airport-TAV connection is a strong link for much of the north part of Italy and also outside it.

As the location of departure and arrival times have been set the historical centers of the respective cities. In calculating the time is always calculated the waiting time for public transport. For travel by car more than three hours was given a 10-minute break in service area. The prices of tickets of the plane / train is class Turistica/2a class. For the fuel consumption was calculated assuming the use of a car with average fuel consumption of 14 Km / L.

MILANO MILANO CONNECTION Milano is an active and dynamic metropolis. Like any great modern city, Milano is also expanding to come across the needs and requirements that a central and important city as Milano has so support. The area where is going to be design the new urban scale projects has to keep in account the fact that Milano will expand. This area, as it was said before, is characterized by the present of the important system such as the Airport of Linate and the future TAV station which will influence the way people are going to use this space in the future. Another thing to keep in consideration is the Idroscalo, which is a place with some interesting potential aspects such as the presence of night clubs and sport facilities, but it has some other which have to be rethink because they are not working that well. Probably one of the first aspects that need to be redesign is the road

and public transport network to give a better usability to the Idroscalo. Another theme that has to be developed is how to make the area usable despite the big infrastructure that are surrounding the area. On the North part of the site there is the old Dogana with its huge dimensions that really creates a impassable system. On the South there is the Linate airport which is blocking any possible connection with the south part of Milano. On the East the Idroscalo which has the only passing point over next the Dogana system. The West part has too some big infrastructure that are blocking the usability of the area such as the Tangenziale Est and the Railway. Despite this is still possible, and necessary, to create usability in the area studding a different way of bringing people to it, like for example creating important attractive poles.

STRATEGIES CONCEPTS The analysis done on the area leads to very positive conclusions. The presence of the Linate airport and the future TAV (Treono Alta VelocitĂ ) station, highlights the possibility that this area will become not only a big pole for connectivity and distribution, but also can become an important center of attraction for the region of Milan for the economic and administrative functions. The most interesting idea appears to be the creation of a new business center; a business center in Milan for Milan, that will open up a wide range of opportunities in Europe and as a consequence internationally. The need of the creation of a strong economic center for the city of Milan is not a new hypothesis; there is already a proposal made by Alderman for urban planning Carlo Masseroli for a business center like the one in Paris (La Defense) in the North-West Milan, near the junction of the A4 and A8

highways. The previous analysis of area give a better respond to the needs of economic and financial center of Milan, thanks to the proximity of the high-speed systems such as the Linate airport. Knowing the problems that La Defense has, the proposal for the new business center is different from the french one. The idea is to create a mixed use organism that is going to integrate both business and residential systems. This way it is going to be create a place where the presence of people is only restricted to a period of time working, but is going to have a constant presence of life. To create an integrated business and residential system there is need of the presence of all those facilities that make a space a vital area such as shopping malls, public transport, urban green systems and sport centers.

connectivity PUBLIC TRANSPORTS One of the points on which it was necessary to focus on was the public transport network service. The sophisticated connection that it is going to be created with Milano has to pass through a total usability of the new designed area towards Milano and vice versa. Certainly the need of connecting Milano with the Linate airport was one of the first steps on which the research begging. To comprehend what the best way to serve this area, was interesting to go through those metropolis, even much larger in Milano, which have been seriously directing on public transport networks to facilitate the movements of their users through the city. Tokyo is maybe one of the finest example of this way serving the city with a good public transport network. One of the factors that make the public transport system is functionally is the fact that much of it on tracks. This kind of transport in fact have a number

of advantages over the trucking ones that do not have; for example they travel on a different network which is not the road, or at least, have their own lanes, and that means that they respect the schedule, are for sure faster and the routes and stops are easy to locate.

This new conceptual idea of Business-residential district will bring to this area a lot of people: in the core of the business center there will be a 35%-40% of residences a 55%-50% will be workers from Milano, the cities nearby, but also from other parts of the north-center of Italy (thanks to the TAV network) and the rest of it (10%-15%) will be hotels or rented apartments for example for business men.

Next to the TAV station is going to be design an area almost all reserved for offices. The TAV station it’s a key point of this project because it is think as a strong link between the new business district and the city of Segrate. The Idea is that this station will not be considered just as a normal station; as the Garibaldi Station in Milano this building is going to solve different uses such as a shopping mall, a cultural center with a big theater. The station as its main importance not only for the pact that is going to host one of the stops of the TAV (Treno Alta Velocità ) but also because it is going to be the link with the Metro station and the Linate airport.

The new district that is going to be built on the east side of the Idroscalo, continues the main idea of mixed uses of the core of the business center, but giving space to more residential houses. This new neighborhood will help the area next to the Idroscalo to become more richer and safer using the existing facilities that the Idroscalo system has, such ad night clubs and sport centers.

Creating a system that has its own life is not what the project desired, so the New Forlanini district is a another key aspect in the project because it is going to work as a sort of city link between Milano and the new Business district. As it was said before the presence of the Railway and of the Tangenziale Est are going to stop the usability of the area between Parco Forlanini end the Idroscalo. The Forlanini district tries to solve this problem by creating an area of residences and some business.

Segrate is a city that has grown in the last 2 decades. Is a quite rich city but is development was based on the small factories and on the excavation of sand for the building sector. Now the industries are moving away or they are not that strong as they were twenty year ago, living a city fragmented in two parts. The new district designed for Segrate wants to reconnect the two part giving a new space to the city and projecting it towards the lakes try to give a mix of green areas and built spaces.

GREEN PARCO FORLANINI The first question that should arise when designing a park is “why people should use it?�. Despite the fact the parks are seen like sort of small oasis of sustainability, what makes a park a nice place where people can relax, walk or can just take a break during a normal working day? Parks work if they have good and functional services and facilities near or inside them. Let make an example: if we take in consideration Parco Nord, a nice big park on the north part of Milano. Parco Nord is manly use on week-ends but during all the working week is quite empty and of course not a very safe place to be. If we take in consideration the parks that are in the cities like the Central Park in New York, or the city parks of Melbourne and Sydney, is easy to see that this

kind of parks are used all day long. Which is the point that makes a park like Central Park of the Melbourne city park a better park than Parco Nord? Probably the best thing is to have a high density next to it. If more people are living next to the park there is a better possibility than more people will use it.

Goldoni wrote La bancarotta when he was Consul of Genoa to Venice and notes: “Started my new job with the knowledge of traders, not to mention that feeling of failure. And I saw that those who were retreating, they cut the rope or who were arrested, had their ruin only ambition, recklessness, to vice. I spread my horizon to the people of the law, throwing dust in the eyes of creditors, fraudulent bankrupts gave their time to make their failures more lucrative and secure”. Third comedy of Goldoni, La bancarotta, written in ���� and performed at the Teatro San Samuele in Venice, met a great success. It is one of the plays most markedly marks the transition from the old to the new theater of the Commedia dell'Arte theater that begins to make its way through the reform of Goldoni.

In questo modo si va a creare uno spazio privilegiato che può essere accentuato dall’uso di una luce semi-radente che allunga le ombre degli attori sulla scenografia stessa.

Esterno La forma del nastro si richiude su se stessa creando uno spazio introverso delimitato dalla forma stessa che può facilmente richiamare uno spazio esterno.

moderna a Madrid con annesso auditorium e spazi per l’arte ENG The two buildings located in the area between Via Farini and “quartiere Isola”, are the result of a redesign of an existing project in clusters for the small batch by via Medardo Rosso. The usable space for the two new buildings is therefore bound by volume rules previously designed which it was necessary to follow. For this reason it has been taken the permitted volume has the starting point changing its shape starting from studying how the light was dropping on them to have the greatest and best as possible exposure to light during all the period of the year. The elevations are designed so that the compositions of the windows retain the shape of the volume as regular as possible. To keep this idea, for graphic and optical reasons, it has been chosen a "random" composition of square 114

ITA I due edifici situati nella zona tra via Farini e quartiere Isola, sono il risultato di un ridisegno di un esistente progetto a cluster per il piccolo lotto di via Medardo Rosso. Lo spazio utilizzabile per i due nuovi edifici è quindi vincolato da regole di volumetria precedentemente progettate alle quali era necessario attenersi. Per questo motivo è stato preso il volume consentito è si è iniziato a modificarne la forma partendo da uno studio sulla luce. Rispetto all’irradiazione solare i volumi hanno subito dei tagli pensati in modo tale che i prospetti avessero il maggiore esposizione alla luce possibile durante l’arco di tutto l’anno. I prospetti sono studiati affinché la composizione delle finestre mantengano una forma il più regolare possibile: con alcune scelte di tipo grafico-ottico, si è scelta una composizione “casuale” con forme

multipurpose hall small multi purpose hall over the ancient walls of milano next to Porta Volta Italy ENG Porta Volta is one of the oldest doors of entry in Milano. The two remaining “Casello” are the most vivid track of the old wall system of Milano. The project for a small multipurpose building for exhibitions, shows, auditorium etc.., fits into this context in the difficult balance between history and modern living in Milan. The auditorium is the head of a new square that develops over what was the track of the old walls and in correspondence with one of the toll booths. The building correlates with both issues, and the square that the toll. The compact shape is a strong allusion to the presence of the old walls, and in the same way the solution that allows to abstract the interior of the building from the noisy environment of the road system in which the building it is inserted. Though, the compactness 126

Porta Volta è una delle antiche vie d’ingresso a Milano. I due caselli ancora esistenti sono la traccia più viva di quello che era il vecchio sistema delle mura milanesi. Il progetto per un piccolo edificio multifunzionale, per esposizioni, mostre, auditorium ecc. si inserisce in questo contesto in bilico tra la storia e il moderno vivere di Milano. L’auditorium è la testa di una nuova piazza che si sviluppa sopra quella che era le traccia delle antiche mura e in corrispondenza con uno dei caselli. L’edificio si mette in relazione con entrambi i temi, sia la piazza che il casello. La forma molto compatta è un richiamo palese alla presenza delle vecchie mura, ma è anche la soluzione che consente di astrarre l’interno dell’edificio dal contesto rumoroso del sistema stradale in cui è inserito . La compattezza è ammorbidita dalle forme curve della copertura e dalle

On the façade, the material used is a classic ceppo (a natural stone use in mamy buildings in Milano), which was used also for the casello, used in horizontal layers of different sizes. The building's interior is very simple. Divided into two parts,
