EXHIBITIONS Ecoventions Breckenridge Giuseppe Licari (Rotterdam, Netherlands), Gretchen Marie Schaefer (Denver, Colorado), Nicola Di Croce (Venice, Italy), Susannah Sayler + Edward Morris (Syracuse, New York), Tara Rynders (Denver,Colorado) Various Sites, FREE Aug–Sep, 2019 This project will feature multiple site-specific public commissions, each created by an environmental artist or team of artists during a residency in Breckenridge. The installations will target local topics of ecological and public safety concern including watersheds degraded by historic mining activities, and the beetle kill pine amplified threat of wildfires. Support for this project is generously provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Colorado Creative Industries and Town of Breckenridge. Tension Scott Young (Denver, Colorado) Gallery@OMH, Old Masonic Hall, FREE May 30–Jul 8, 2019 Tension lures the visitor into a maze of neon mystically bent into dangling “ropes” of illuminated glass. The glowing cables defy the physics of their medium and appear to loosely hang on mechanical pulley systems, evocative of machinery used in the mining era of Summit County. Scott Young’s work confuses the senses and invites us to question what in our life appears vital and warm, but secretly possesses a tenuous fragility that only survives through devoted care. PAGE

EXHIBITIONS Isak Heartstone Thomas Dambo (Copenhagen, Denmark) Illinois Gulch, FREE Jun, 2019–Ongoing Isak Heartstone is a large-scale, wooden troll sculpture created by Thomas Dambo, an artist and designer who specializes in making imaginative art pieces, sculptures, furniture, and more from recycled materials. Over the last three years, Dambo and his team of volunteers have made dozens of sculptures around the world. Blue River Giuseppe Licari (Rotterdam, Netherlands) + Gretchen Marie Schaefer (Denver, Colorado) Gallery@OMH, Old Masonic Hall, FREE Aug 8–Sep 8, 2019 In the last century, humanity has become a natural force that forges and is forged by the landscape it creates. Blue River is an installation by Giuseppe Licari and Gretchen Marie Schaefer inspired by the history of Breckenridge and the radical transformation of its rich physical and human landscape since the Gold Rush.
