ENTRY INTO THE WORKFORCE

Lead by industry professionals, this course incorporates four basic training areas: customer service, housekeeping, shipping & receiving, and basic hand tool use. Upon course completion, students will be prepared to face the job market with confidence.

1. CUSTOMER SERVICE

Dealing with internal and external customers is one of the most difficult and challenging responsibilities. This section will focus on helping students develop self-management, interpersonal and soft skills that are necessary to deliver excellent customer support.

2. CLEANING & HOUSEKEEPING

Housekeeping plays a crucial role in maintaining a business' reputation by ensuring the upkeep, cleanliness, and overall aesthetic appeal of the establishment. A competent housekeeping team is responsible for various tasks, including maintenance, cleanliness and decor. In this section, students will acquire knowledge about the necessary tools, equipment and supplies essential for efficiently and professionally maintaining cleanliness.

3. WAREHOUSE – SHIPPING & RECEIVING

This section will cover the basic fundamentals of a warehouse shipping and receiving environment. This includes material handling procedures, manual material handling, lifting techniques, selection of footwear, working at heights (platforms, scaffolding, or ladders) and proper use for common warehouse equipment and tools.

4. HAND TOOLS – SHOP SAFETY

Students will learn the proper use, safety protocols and efficient techniques for working with common hand tools in the workplace. This section covers the identification, selection and correct utilization of various types of hand tools. Gain proficiency in manual tools like hand saws, hammers and screwdrivers, as well as powered hand tools. Emphasis is placed on safety practices, enabling you to work confidently and securely with these essential tools.

FINDING EMPLOYMENT & RESUME 101’S CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Develop vital techniques to help navigate challenging conversations with customers, colleagues and supervisors in high-emotion situations. This course focuses on assessing, scoping and diagnosing issues from multiple perspectives, understanding diverse personality styles and implementing a problem-solving approach to foster positive outcomes and strengthen relationships. STANDARD FIRST AID & CPR TRAINING

This course offers critical expertise from Lifesaving Society for responding to emergencies both at home and in the workplace. It provides comprehensive coverage for a wide range of topics, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), wound care, fractures, burns, choking, and allergic reactions. Students will learn to assess emergencies, make informed decisions swiftly, and provide effective care until professional medical services arrive. Students will leave the course with life-saving skills that allow them to respond confidently in emergency situations, empowering them to potentially save lives.
