How does the election work?

Every four years, a municipal election takes place in the City to elect the Mayor and Members of Council, School Board Trustees, and the Regional Chair for the Regional Municipality of Durham.

Voters will elect seven individuals to sit as Members on Pickering City Council for the following Offices:

Mayor, elected at large, three Regional Councillors and three City Councillors elected by voters from each of the three wards. Voters will also cast a vote for school board trustees and the Regional Chair.

Are You Interested in Running for Pickering City Council?

Individuals interested in running for Pickering City Council must file their nomination in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (the “Act”).

• Office of Regional Councillor, Ward 1

• Office of Regional Councillor, Ward 2

• Office of Regional Councillor, Ward 3

• Office of City Councillor, Ward 1 • Office of City Councillor, Ward 2

• Office of Trustee, Durham District School

Board

• Office of Trustee, Durham Catholic District

School Board

Nominations must be filed in person, or by an agent, beginning Monday, May 2, 2022, until Thursday, August 18, 2022, during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm), and on Nomination Day, Friday, August 19, 2022, between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Nominations must be filed at: Office of the City Clerk Pickering Civic Complex, One The Esplanade Pickering, ON L1V 6K7
