The Midsummer Season includes several outdoor events for which we ask you to bring your own seating, but loos are provided and this year we will be able to offer a bar! There will also be an evening of events in the sublime St Bartholomew’s Church.
Deborah Roberts Artistic Director PiwkoRobert
This year’s Transition theme leads us beautifully into year-round activities appropriately placed into mini festivals following the seasons, while still continuing to develop our online work bringing BREMF to the world, including to those who can’t easily leave home.
After last year’s COVID-enforced outdoor Midsummer Season, and the overwhelmingly positive response from our audiences, we have decided to let an experiment lead to an exciting new way of working.
For the Autumn Season our focus is on young artists, including our popular BREMF Live! Showcase with tea and cakes, and a welcome return of our Clubnight.
We are grateful to the D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust for their support of our work at the time of publication. Thanks also to other funders and supporters who joined us after this brochure went to print.
Do also make a note of our Christmas weekend on 16 and 17 December. Sign up for our monthly newsletter, via our website, to hear of our latest plans.
Brighton Early Music Festival gratefully acknowledges financial support from Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants.

INDIAN MUSIC & DANCE WORKSHOP

HOURSTHETRANSITINGNIGHT
The tale of the birth of the baroque typically focuses on vocal music and the new style of singing that emerged in Florence around 1600. This concert tells a parallel story from the point of view of instrumental music, following the twin strands of improvising on vocal music, and the evolution of more abstract, purely instrumental forms such as toccatas and fantasias. Featuring music from the renaissance world of Sermisy and Willaert to the thoroughly baroque music of Bertali and Frescobaldi.
