MY POEMS I had to do a class project and my Mom decided to make it into a book so that I could share with friends and family. My teacher said that I had a gift and was always proud of my work. Here is the compilation of the poems that I wrote when I was in 7th grade. A heartfelt thanks to my teacher, Ms. Yanitza Iglesias , who always encouraged and had faith in me.

CONFIDENCE Hold on to confidence For if confidence leaves Is like a disappearance of myself That certainly is gone. Hold on tight to confidence For if confidence departs forever That will be a great tragedy That will change my life.

YASMIN Kind, flexible, friendly, artistic Sister of Isabelle Lover of acrobatics, food, my friends Who feels happy when dancing Excited when being with friends And calm listening to music. Who needs food, friends and family? Who gives love, kindness and confidence? Who fears family loss, no education, being homeless? Who would like to see Paris, dance performances and nature? ICE CREAM & PIZZA Rushing to the ice cream truck Flavors like chocolate and strawberry Licking the frozen goodness is heaven The thought of missing a drop is very, very scary. Smelling the pizzas everywhere Was like in a pizza world When I get pizza I do not share Just look at the cheesy swirls!

WHAT IF? Last night while I lay thinking here Some “what ifs” crawled into my ear And scurried and hopped all night long And sung the same old “what if” song What if I am bad at dancing? What if they made sounds everlasting? What if I had to live in New York? What if every house was made out of pork? What if I started being bad? What if I really get sad? What if I get a Ferrari? What if a jaguar comes from the safari? What if I don’t get a scholarship? What if my favorite t-shirt ripped? What If the Earth was attacked? What if school had many rats? What if my dog is a big dummy? What if my hair turns blonde? What if I have lice? What if I was never nice? Everything seems normal and then.... 10
The night time “what ifs” strike again.

RUNNING AWAY Running away From bad mistakes From “See what you did? From all the mistakes I have made And have made my life depressed. I feel useless I feel rejected For all the bad mistakes I have done in my life. I am packing my good items Taking myself without the mistakes Galloping faster to arrive at my destination.
My head is nauseous My heart is out of my chest I MIGHT come back When the mistakes go away forever from my head.
