HANDMADE AND HEARTFELT

What could be more personal – and memorable – than making your own wedding rings together? Located in Okehampton’s Victorian Arcade on the edge of Dartmoor, Moon & Moor gallery makes a charm-packed setting to spend a day of crafting under the guidance of talented jeweller Corrinne Eira Evans.

Drawing on over 15 years of experience in the industry, Corrinne will guide you through the making process, ensuring you have the perfect rings as the incredibly special day draws to a close. “The morning starts with making a ‘dummy’ silver ring to get you comfortable with working in metal and knowing the process, with the afternoon focused on the completion of your wedding rings,” she explains. Corrinne will provide a consultation prior to your workshop, discussing metals, widths, finishes and profile shapes. You can choose from silver, gold (9ct or 18ct), platinum or palladium. While your choice of materials will be quoted for on booking, a range of celebratory extras – bubbly, refreshments and photographs – are all provided and included in the workshop cost.

“It’s a fun, relaxed day, and an experience you’ll talk about for years to come,” says Corrinne. “I will be on hand at every stage of the process, documenting your day with photographs too. These workshops are always a joy and the delight at the results is just magical.” moonandmoor.com

Renowned for his contemporary jewellery crafted from recycled precious metals, salvaged woods and ethically sourced gemstones, jeweller Justin Duance is perhaps best known for his sandcast creations.

This set is a captivating example, featuring an engagement ring, a set of textured wedding rings and a matching set of studs to be gifted on the wedding morning. “All the pieces are cast in recycled 14ct white gold which has a lovely stormy grey colour, and each piece has had little reclaimed vintage diamonds organically set for a subtle sparkle as they catch the light,” explains Jamila Hirtenstein at Justin Duance. “The couple chose sand from our collection to cast the rings and studs in. We happened to have the sands from their favourite beaches in Thailand where they love to holiday.” Although the workshop houses a considerable collection of sand from across the globe, couples are welcome to source sand from a particular beach, whether it was the location of your engagement or the setting of a childhood holiday, to create a ring rich with texture and personal significance. justind.co.uk

Every couple wants to add a personal element to their wedding celebrations, and we love the idea of extending your personality to your wedding jewellery. Drakes’ bespoke service can help bring your ideas to life and create a piece of jewellery you can treasure long after the excitement of your day starts to fade, from bespoke wedding rings and bridal jewellery to cufflinks and bridesmaid gifts.

This bespoke pendant and earrings (pictured) was recently created for one of their brides. “The bride wasn’t entirely sure what she wanted so the team worked closely with her to find out more about her dress, her hair and what other jewellery in store took her fancy before coming up with this idea,” explains Nicola Price at Drakes. “The bride even got to see a ‘to scale’ wax model of the items before going ahead with her purchase. The result, we think you will agree, is simply beautiful!”
