Cook's Biography Cook was born in 1728 in Yorkshire, England. He worked as an apprentice to a captain. Cook was eventually offered a ship of his own command but he decied to join the British Royal Navy instead.

Edmund Hillary prodicted that June 3 1769, Venus would cross the suns path. The Royal Navy made Cook a lietenant and sent him to Tahiti to see the eclipse.

First voyage On 1768 cook set sail from Plymouth,England on his ship Endeavour.

Secret orders Cook was given secret orders to find the great southern content but he could not find it. 5

Cooks crew built an observatory to see the eclipse in Tahiti. They set up a camp on the beach.
New Zealand & Australia Cooks ship went to New Zealand then the Endeavour sailed up to the east cost of Australia. The natives were not interested in trading with them. They found many animals and plants.

Stuck Unfortunately there ship was damaged on the coral and they had to stop. Many of the crew died from Malaria. They got home in 1971. 6
Second voyage On 1772 Cook set sail in his 2 shipsAdventure & Resoloition. He wanted to find the southern continent or prove it did not exist.

Freezing waters Cook sailed and headed to the freezing waters of Antarctica. The crew contend more than 100 icebergs.

At Antartica
The pacific Cook set sail for Tahiti to rest his crew then visit tonga. The 2 ships were sepreated in a storm. Cook waited for the captin of the other ship but he went and the other captain came a few days later. Ten of the other crew died in a fight with the Maori.

Going home The other captain returned to England but Cook continued his voyage and claimed more islands.On the way he discovered an Island off the tip of South America. It is now named Tierra del Fuego.

Third voyage On the 1776 Cook set sail with his to ships-Resoloition and the discovery.

Alaska Cook searched the coast of Alaska trying to find the North West Passage.

After stopping at New Zealand and Tahiti they went to Hawaii.
Where he went>
Hawaii again Cook went to go back to Hawaii because the ship could get stuck in the iceberg. The first time they came they came the Hawaiins thought his was a god Lono. When they reuturned so quickly they reilied that he was not his god and they killed Cook.

The consequences Cooks voyages changed the world by making maps more accurate, proving that there was no southern paradise and he claimed the South Pole did exist.
