On the 2nd June 2010, West Cumbria witnessed one of the worst criminal acts involving firearms in British History. A lone gunman, Derrick bird killed 12 people and injured another 11 before killing himself. “Do you have the time?� is what he asked some of his victims before injuring or killing them. This book is a document of the crime scenes today and to show how such a peaceful and beautiful place could witness such a tragedy.

2nd June 2010 Early Hours Bird Leaves his home in Rowrah to his Twin Brothers home in
0514 Bird drives to the house of Mr Commons, his solicitor in Frizington.
1013 Mr Commons is shot once in the shoulder and then shot dead in his driveway when leaving for work.
1033 Darren Rewcastle is shot dead at point-blank range in Whitehaven. He also shoots Don Reid, Paul Wilson and Terry Kennedy, but they all survived. Police start to chase bird, but it is unsuccessful. Public warnings are issued to people in whitehaven, egremont and seascale to stay inside.
1100 – 1135 Bird continues to murder and injure: Egremont: Kenneith Fishburn, 71, is shot dead. Susan Hughes, 57, shot dead in the head and chest and is killed.
1100 – 1135 Bird continues to murder and injure:
Wilton: Jennifer Jackson,68, Shot dead with his shotgun and a .22 rifle. James Jackson, 67, Shot once killing him instantly.
1100 – 1135 Bird continues to murder and injure:
Carleton: Isaac Dixon, 65, is killed while talking to a farmer.
1100 – 1135 Bird continues to murder and injure:
Gosforth: Garry Purdham, 31, is shot dead instantly.
1127 Seascale: Michael pike, 64,Is killed while riding his bike. Jane Robinson,66, is shot at point blank range while delivering shopping catalogues. Jamie Clark, 23, is driving when he is shot at. It is unclear if he was killed by a bullet or the resulting crash. He also shoots Harry Berger, 40. The Pub Landlord loses 2 fingers but survives.
1133 Bird heads for eskdale valley where he opens fire on six more targets, injuring three people. He asks Samantha Chrystie if she is having a nice day before shooting her in the face.
1230 Bird dumps his car in a small village called Boot.
1330 Bird is found dead in a woodland area.
