the passit plan What is passit?
Each company/organisation has been allocated a month (see below). That is your month to fundraise the most you possibly can to help give PrintIT the support it needs to grow into it’s potential. It will all come to a close at London Calling 2015, with Duplo holding the final month. Like all fundraisers; this is not a competition, you guys are a team of amazing organisations who are lighting the way for the industry, and if you get the chance we encourage you to support each other in anyway you see fit.
THE SCHEDULE
Team spirit
We know that in addition to the good spirit behind each participants intentions with the PassIT campaign, there also needs to be a quid pro quo involved with the process. In return for your charitable deeds, you need recognition for these initiatives and a chance to work with your fellow industry leaders. It is in this spirit that we encourage you to view your fellow PassIT participants as teammates who can support each others fundraising initiatives with social media, PR and maybe even ideas and planning! With that said we won’t be ignoring you either! We will be promoting your events to the best of our ability as we make our way through the months. We will be making custom social and promotional material to aid the campaign and the participants as you make your way through the year. Then finally in October, we will unite at London Calling 2015, and reflect on the year together. 1
A PrintIT! Fundraising Campaign
A little information about printit!
PrintIT! is a nationwide charitable campaign that has been teaching students about the print and paper industries since 2005. To date, more than 140,000 students, across 2000 schools have taken part! That’s not enough for us though, we want more! The aim of PrintIT is to bring students into the industries at an early age to educate their views and awareness of the print and paper industries, because fostering interest in our industry, means fostering the future stars of our industry. We want to encourage more students, to fuel the lifeblood of our industry and to help it develop. PrintIT! is aimed at students in years 9-12, so students aged between 13 and 18 who are studying A Levels and GCSE’s in Product Design and Graphic Products. We engage the students further into the course by including an overarching competition, where students can win prizes by designing promotional products using printing techniques that they have researched. Students are tasked to not just research, but analyse, evaluate and consider printing techniques, paper options, environmental and sustainability factors for their project. We want them to get a sense of what its like to manage and design a product from scratch, and the possibilities that the industry provides for their creativity. The programme comes to an end each year with a great awards ceremony, where you - the industry luminaries - can meet the students, help judge the final projects and award fantastic prizes to the winning schools and students. Don’t just support, take part! 2
stats & facts As you might imagine, we’ve had the chance to really monitor what sort of an impact we make with the students who take part in ‘PrintIT!’. The amazing truth is that these students, unlike full grown adults, absorb knowledge like sponges absorb water. By paying attention to their thoughts we realised that PrintIT not only increases their understanding of the print and paper industries, but seriously affects their likelihood to investigate a career in that direction. Check out the below facts! Teachers were asked.. “As a direct result of taking part in PrintIT! Did any of your students express...”
An interest in working in the Print or Paper industry? An interest in potentially doing an apprenticeship in the Print or Paper industry? An interest in potentially doing work experience in the Print or Paper industry? An interest in getting more information about the Print or Paper industry? any other interest?

fundraising information Good fundraising is done in a way that encourages a fun, enjoyable atmosphere for all concerned. You are doing a good thing, for a good cause -and hopefully having fun in the process! However, there are a few considerations to keep in mind - most of which revolve around common sense. Obviously we are not concerned about any of our fundraising participants intentionally breaking the law, but there are legalities and related topics that we’d like to bring your attention to; if only to reinforce your existing knowledge.
Letter of Agreement
We will be providing you with a Fundraising Letter of Agreement document. The purpose of this, is to iron out the exact terms and conditions under which the fundraising can take place. It will answer most of your questions about expenses, conduct under the Duplo, PassIT and PrintIT brands, and fundraising restrictions. It is worth considering that until the Letter of Agreement is signed by both a representative of your organisation, and a representative of Proskills UK - your participation in PassIT is unconfirmed!
risk assessments & Contracts
Each fundraising activity must be appropriately risk assessed, and the relevant venues and contractors will need to sign the appropriate documents. This is to protect you as much as it is us, we don’t want venues cancelling on you last minute, and we don’t want contractors scuppering your fundraising plans. In short this amounts to: • • • • •
Venue Managers must sign Venue Contracts. Volunteers & Fundraising staff must be informed as to proper conduct and procedure. Health concerns must be minimised All funds must be voluntary, no intimidation is allowed. This includes “bucket shaking”. Any contractors must be liable for their services i.e personel hired for their services should be appropriately qualified and have their own insurance.
We appreciate that some of you may not be experienced event/activity organisers! Please feel free to run any contractor agreements past Amy Moran if you are concerned about any aspect of how their terms may affect your event or the PassIT campaign.
PAssit status: ambassador participant
You and your organisation upon signing the Letter of Agreement will be promoted to a PassIT Ambassador status within Proskills UK. What does this mean? This means you can address organisations who you feel would be willing to support you in your support of PassIT. This chain of ‘Donation by association’ is a great way to boost your fundraising, and your organisations profile at the same time. The fundraising toolkit, detailed later in this fundraising pack can help you get started.
