Like a song on repeat, the Brentano Design Studio’s latest collection is a compilation of patterns and textures that bring to life their hearts’ desire. Commemorating the design team’s revered colorwork and extensive artistic expertise, the collection is a celebration of color and design. A fun and challenging mash up of textiles, Favorite Things features useable anchor fabrics, painterly wonders, and nostalgic throwbacks.

Brentano’s most sustainable collection yet, Favorite Things is the first to feature a PFAS-Free Stain Repellent. With eyes on the future, the Brentano Design Studio looks to create a more environmentally friendly world that will remain sustainable and safe for generations to come. While many of the new offerings showcase PFAS-Free Stain Repellent or recycled content, they still uphold Brentano’s ethos of beauty and performance. “It is our mission to maintain a culture that seeks alternate constructions/finishes and reaches for a higher quality product that uses sustainable manufacturing practices from our designers and mills,” states Founder Iris Wang. “This collection is a grouping of fabrics that utilize recycled fibers, can be used for LEED points, and contain less chemicals than those before it. I’m proud to continue to push boundaries with our designs and I will continue to seek out products and practices that will enhance our daily lives in a healthy and sustainable way.”

Featuring 14 textiles and one wallcovering, Favorite Things is a collection representing the many ways the Brentano Design Studio sets itself apart. Whether through novelty yarns, brilliant and bold pattern work, or distinct performance textiles, the design team’s diligent and focused pursuit of their craft and creating meaningful and luxurious fabrics is on full display.

MEET THE COLLECTION

1. A tailored addition to Brentano’s eco-friendly fabrics, Phoenix is a 54" upholstery made with 56% Post-Industrial Recycled Cotton and is eligible for possible LEED points.

2. With a subtle texture and a visual shimmer that compliments its tactile nature, Clement is a soft chenille with added interest from its understated boucle.

3. Lush and inviting, Chord comes in 4 neutral colorways, including Nokota Grey and Silverback, quickly discerning Chord as a staple fabric for soft touches and plush accents.

4. Meaning steadfast and loyal, Ardent, is a soft-spoken fabric with exquisite visual interest.

5. Made from Polyester, Rayon, Cotton, and Post-Consumer Recycled Polyester, Showtime is an impressive pairing of Chenille, slub yarns and novelty yarns.

6. Using a variation of thick and thin lines with layers of organic shapes, Beallara is a re-energized, enlarged pattern highlighting delicate neutrals paired with subdued accent colors to create a fashionable strié pattern.

7. Capturing the delicate and unique characteristics of orchid leaves, Laelia is an abstract textile pattern with varying shapes.

8. Made from High-Energy Dyed Post-Consumer Recycled Polyester and constructed with a planted warp, Playground’s bold colors recede to create textural dimension but visually pop.

Capturing the delicate and unique characteristics of orchid leaves, Laelia is an abstract textile pattern with varying shapes. Painted first as a watercolor in our Chicago Studio, Founder and Artistic Director Iris Wang pulled inspiration from her love of orchids to create this versatile design. Beginning from a very conceptual state, Iris developed the pattern layer by layer through trial and error. The original watercolor painting featured a realistic representation of the orchid, with the image becoming more deconstructed as time passed. The smaller scale of its sister fabric Beallara, Laelia comes in 8 original colorways, including Atlas Moth and Summer Nights. Laelia is an attractive fabric ideal for senior living and residential interiors with a resilient abrasion of 100,000 Double Rubs (Wyzenbeek, Cotton Duck), and PFAS-Free Stain Repellent joining Brentano’s esteemed list of performance textiles.

Reminiscent of orchid leaves after which it is named, Beallara uses a sectionaldyed yarn to produce a deconstructed ombre silhouette. Using a variation of thick and thin lines with layers of organic shapes, this re-energized, enlarged pattern highlights delicate neutrals paired with subdued accent colors to create a fashionable strié pattern. Available in 8 versatile, understated colorways, including Desert Cardinal, Auburn Sunset, and Kentish Belle, Beallara is a calming and comfortable textile. With an abrasion resistance of 100,000 Double Rubs (Wyzenbeek, Cotton Duck) and a PFAS-Free Stain Repellent finish, this 57″ width textile is well suited for upholstery applications in healthcare, hospitality, and residential settings. Working in harmony with smaller-scale sister fabric Laelia, or coordinating solids, Jordan and Petra, Beallara is a multi-faceted abstract beauty.

Built to last, Expression withstands the harshest elements with its bleach cleanability, bacterial resistance, and abrasion resistance of 100,000 Double Rubs (Wyzenbeek, Wire Screen). In 5 lively colorways, including Beach Day and Scratch Art, Expression’s bold, broken lines is a contemporary spin on traditional geometric grid styling. Captivating from afar, a closer view of this textile shows the richness, refined beauty, and detail of the scratchboard style markings seen throughout this 53″ wide textile. Made with 27% High Energy-Dyed PC Recycled Polyester, Expression is available for possible LEED points.

Chord is a soft, chunky, luxurious blend of Polyester, Acrylic, Cotton, Wool and Viscose that will become an instant favorite for added texture and casual comfort. Lush and inviting, this 55″ width upholstery fabric comes in 4 neutral colorways, including Nokota Grey and Silverback, quickly discerning Chord as a staple fabric for soft touches and plush accents. A cozy addition to residential and contract design applications, Chord has an abrasion resistance of 70,000 Double Rubs (Wyzenbeek, Cotton Duck) and passes CAL 117.

The brilliant and beautiful Revere is a captivating embroidered vegan leather with a stitched design. Elongated triangles and diamonds please the eye with contrasting embroidery colors in 7 distinguished colorways. Ideal for decorative headboards, ottomans, chair backs, or as eye-catching accents in upscale interiors, the admirable Revere can be paired with its luxurious and supple counterpart Journal, which offers a coordinating solid. Resilient, Revere measures 54″ wide with a base wear of 100,000 Double Rubs (Wyzenbeek, Cotton Duck), and a polyester embroidery yarn that wears at 75,000 Double Rubs (Wyzenbeek, Cotton Duck).

A fun and rectilinear design, Playground is a playful addition to Brentano’s line of contract-level performance fabrics. This 53″ wide, small-scale repeat is offered in various cool and warm colors, including neutrals, such as Greek Island and San Francisco, to more primary-colored selections, like Arcade and Carnival Games. Made from High-Energy Dyed Post-Consumer Recycled Polyester and constructed with a planted warp, Playground’s bold colors recede to create textural dimension but visually pop. Playground is designed for durability with an abrasion resistance of 75,000 Double Rubs (Wyzenbeek, Cotton Duck), bleach cleanability, and an option to add Brentano’s stain resistant finish, Tri-sistant. Playground is available for possible LEED points.

This Sunbrella® Solution-Dyed Acrylic with a Polyester warp has an abrasion resistance of 100,000 Double Rubs (Wyzenbeek, Cotton Duck), bleach cleanability, bacterial resistance, and a PFAS-Free Stain Repellent. About Us

The Brentano Design Studio, led by Iris Wang, has grown from a modest eight patterns in 1990, into an international source for residential, hospitality and commercial fabrics and wallcoverings. The range has expanded to include luxurious vegan leathers, sophisticated indoor/outdoor choices, dynamic stain resistant and easy clean finish options, as well as a beautiful collection of eco-friendly textiles.

Born in 1954 in South Korea to parents who had immigrated from China, Iris Wang, Founder and Artistic Director at Brentano, Inc. cultivated an interest in her Chinese heritage at an early age. At 21, she enrolled at National Normal University, a premier Taiwanese art school. In 1978, after teaching art in Taiwan, Iris came to the United States and began work on her MFA at Kent State University. She completed her Masters of Fine Arts degree in 1981 and began working with an interior designer in Chicago. It was a project involving fabric covered ceiling tiles that sparked Iris’s interest in textiles, an interest that eventually grew into Brentano, Inc.
