BRENT DANCE MONTH 2015 – HIGHLIGHTS

After almost a decade, Brent Dance Month returns to celebrate the wide range of dance and dance fitness activities taking place across the borough. This year’s exciting programme of events include a whole host of dance activities for all ages and abilities. There is something for everyone running throughout July and beyond. This year we will Launch Brent Dance Month in Arena Square on the 1st July. This free public performance will showcase a range of difference dance styles from Indian Classical to Afro Fusion, from Ballroom to Ballet featuring professional dancers from the stage and screen.

Brent Dance Month returns with a spectacular launch on Wednesday 1 July which will feature an hour long showcase of dance styles ranging from contemporary and neo-classical to afro fusion. Bring your lunch and enjoy this free alfresco event on the steps of SSE Arena Wembley

Our aim is to bring members of the community together and get active. By doing so we believe we are strengthening social bonds in a positive way and encouraging community cohesion. Dance and fitness are inclusive and enjoyable ways for people of all ages and abilities to enhance their physical wellbeing and offer enormous health benefits.

Brent Dance Blast, our annual youth dance competition, returns to amaze, inspire and showcase the best of our local talent and features a host of special guest performances not to be missed.

Street Dance XXL UK & Global Championships 2015 returns to SSE Arena on 25 July promising more high flying, energising routines from around the UK and beyond. Little Bopperz Baby Disco was such a smash hit it will be back again for 3 dates in July and 1 in August so shimmy on down with your under 5s and join in the music and movement fun. The aim is to promote healthy and active lives and to widen participation in dance and sports activities.

BRENT DANCE BLAST Saturday 18 July 2015 6-9pm – FREE EVENT The Grand Hall, Brent Civic Centre, Engineers Way, Wembley, HA9 0FJ We welcome back our annual celebration of youth dance talent in the borough, giving Dance Groups and individuals aged 10yrs to 25yrs an opportunity to showcase what they can do through our exciting Brent-wide dance competition and showcase. Dance industry professionals from stage and screen will make up our panel of judges and the winners and runners up will receive exclusive opportunities and prizes from leading Dance companies such as English National Ballet and SDXXL.

Red Brick Cafe ImPULSE Youth Dance is a creative contemporary dance group for young people age 12+ with learning disabilities. Being part of the ImPULSE Youth Dance Group develops confidence and creativity, improves co-ordination, flexibility, fitness, concentration and communication skills whilst making new friends and having fun. We have an audience ranging from novice to professional dancers swishing, swaying and jiving to melodies provided by our DJs.

A NEW CULTURAL CENTRE Construction of The Library at Willesden Green is set to complete this Summer with an exciting programme of activity. The new building will deliver a multi purpose facility and high quality cultural hub in the south of the borough, as well as a state of the art Library, Museum, Archive search room, Gallery, multi purpose performance space and Café. Exciting new programme activity will include, dance, music, drama performances and workshops, screenings, hands-on arts and craft workshops and community projects. There will be plenty to do for people of all ages and interests. So keep an eye out for more information over the next two months.
