A guide how to use this booklet
Remember to refer back to the front of the booklet if you need further information about a service, including who it’s aimed out and whether or not there is a charge. Alternatively, you can always contact your local Children’s Centre, as they will be more than happy to answer any questions.
The first few pages of the booklet are a directory of all the different Children’s Centre services across Brent, with a brief description and information about who the class, course or service is aimed at. You will need to refer back to this section for further information about the services that are listed throughout the rest of the booklet.
Towards the back of the brochure you will also find information about our Dads in Brent programme and some numbers for other services that may be useful.
This booklet is split into four coloured sections: The purple tab – Central Cluster, lists the activities and services in the St Raphael’s and Church End part of Harlesden, and around the Wembley Central, Sudbury and Alperton areas.

Welcome CC
Grange Cluster Welcome to the spring timetable for the Grange Cluster! We provide a range of services for families with children aged under five, including foster parents and expectant parents, living in the Willesden, Neasden, Kilburn, Cricklewood, Kensal Rise and Kensal Green areas. Families can visit the Children’s Centres to enjoy sessions such as baby massage, parenting programmes, yoga, English classes, First Aid, portage sessions and, of course, the popular early years sessions. If you need childcare to enable you to attend a session for parents/ carers, remember that we have crèches onsite for the majority of our courses and well-being classes. Please contact the relevant Children’s Centre to find out how to book a crèche place for your child, to enable you to join a session and learn something new. Events for this term include International Women’s Day, a cultural celebration event and World Book Day.

Stadium Cluster Welcome to the spring timetable for the Stadium Cluster. We believe that every child is unique, and that special and positive childhood experiences improve outcomes for children. We provide a wide range of services across our Children’s Centres and in the community to support children and their families. Facebook For up-to-date information about what is happening, follow us on the Stadium Cluster Children’s Centres Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/Stadium-Cluster-Childrens-Centres Session Information Our Stay, Play and Learn sessions are very popular. For health and safety reasons, we can only allow a certain number of families into each session. Once a session has started, if a family arrives later than 10 minutes after that, they may not be admitted into the session. Our Let’s Talk Speech and Language Welcome Sessions on the first Tuesday of the month at The Willow Children’s Centre and on the first Friday of the month at Church Lane Children’s Centre are for new parents only. Special Events Two special information events are taking place in the coming months, Employability in February and Dental Hygiene in March. For more information, pop into your local Children’s Centre.

The Curzon Crescent and Fawood Children’s Centres’ Partnership (Incorporating Challenge House Children’s Centre) The Curzon Crescent and Fawood Children’s Centres’ Partnership consists of three unique and wonderfully resourced children’s centres and two maintained nursery schools within the Harlesden locality. We offer a variety of stimulating and fun activities to support children’s learning and development from birth to 5years old. Parents and carers are encouraged to be involved in their child’s play so they can continue to support their learning at home. We have a variety of opportunities for children to explore – a purpose-built sensory room, a large natural garden and a purposeful indoor/outdoor play environment right in the middle of Harlesden High Street. Midwifery and health clinics at Curzon Crescent offer antenatal and postnatal support, and a baby clinic. We also offer adult learning and parenting programmes. Family support is available at all three Children’s Centres and offers individual, tailored support to the families within our local catchment area. Follow us on

Life With a New Baby Sarjaz — “Everything is new for your baby, even at times when you may feel tired, overwhelmed or stressed, try to be calm and reassuring for your baby. Babies need to always feel secure and calm.”
Meeting your baby for the first time can be life changing and magical although it’s likely as your baby settles in their new environment out of the womb, life may be turned upside down for some time whilst you and your baby learn to understand each other. We asked some parents; fathers and mothers who attend our Baby Stay and Plays and Post Natal groups what advice they would give to other new parents about how to survive and enjoy life with a new-born baby:
Shirany — “I have learnt a lot from attending activities in the children’s centre talking to other parents and the staff. Lots of parents are going through similar things and I have found it helps me to have peace of mind and to be more relaxed.”
Vivran — “Try to get out as much as possible, fresh air and meeting people are good for you and baby.”
Devshri — “Being a parent is a beautiful journey. Of course it comes with many challenges, but they are all worth it. If you have any worries speak to your Health Visitor. Children’s Centre’s are the best way to develop your child. You can get lots of support and help from the children’s centre and also attend things like parenting classes.”
Emily — “Talk to other parents about their experiences, take advantage of groups and activities on offer locally. Ask for help when you need it from friends, extended family and professionals.” Khilna — “Watch and listen to your baby’s cues. Rest when the baby is sleeping.”
Children's Centre's across Brent provide a range of services, support information and activities aimed at pregnant/ new parents/Carers, fathers and mothers. Look through the timetable or contact your local Children's Centre for further information, advice or support.
Ugo — “When things are tough in the early stages, remember it is just a phase that does not last forever, things get easier, your baby is a precious gift and they grow so quickly so enjoy every moment.”
