Cornfest 2012 will be upon us in a couple of weeks. We again have an exciting NEW location! We will be located at the corner of Brentwood Blvd. & Technology Way, next to Jack in the Box. While it is a new location, we have enough experience with location changes the last couple of years to be on top of this one! First, I want to thank the various landowners that jumped on board early, giving us permission to host this Annual Brentwood tradition on their properties! Also, thank you to Ron Nunn Farms & Matt Cresswell for responding within 24 hours to cover our massive discing needs. We have many other people providing an assortment of services to us. Without the landowners & service providers, we would not be able to host this event, or have the fireworks display. We again have a well-rounded three- day festival event with many Arts & Crafts & Food Vendors. We have three days of full stage entertainment for you, beginning Friday afternoon, with Caravanserai & Public Eye and ending with the largest Fireworks display in this area. Saturday is a full day with assorted bands & ending with ACDShe & then Pablo Cruise. The main theme on Sunday is Latino, with the horses & dancers back and ending with Malo. Word is that we may see our longtime Police Sergeant, Walter, back to again provide us with entertainment as he again attempts to tame the wild horses as a rookie rider!! Throughout each day, there is a well-rounded assortment of entertainment genres. Please come out and have a great time! As always, many Brentwood non-profits derive some, most, or all of their annual funds from participating in this event. So please come out and support these groups that do so much for our Community. Thank You Ken Seamann, Enrolled Agent, Entertainment Chair, Cornfest Director & CFO, Chamber Director

UPCOMING EVENTS

Chamber Mixers Thursday, June 21, 2012 Sugar Barge Resort, Bethel Island

Thursday, July 19, 2012 BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse

Fast approaching is the Chamber’s and Brentwood’s Premier Event, the Corn Festival is on July 13, 14 and 15, the weekend following Independence Day. At the core of the Corn Festival is the grandest volunteer opportunity available in our community. Virtually every task performed at the Corn Festival is done by the many hundreds of Brentwood and Area residents who use this event as a place to “give back” to our community. What constitutes a volunteer? According to the Free Online Dictionary a volunteer is: “A person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking; a person who performs a service willingly and without pay.” Now combine that with beautiful weather, carnival atmosphere, seasonal food and beverage, all within hearing distance of renowned music performers and who wouldn’t want to be on the list of Corn Festival Volunteers? How do I become a Corn Festival volunteer? Begin by looking at the organizations you might be a member of. Service Clubs (Soroptimists, Lions, Rotary, and Kiwanis), School and Community Organizations (All Out Sports, American Cancer Society, Delta Community Services, Police Explorers, One Day at a Time, Freedom Boys Soccer) Church and Fraternal Organizations (Immaculate Heart of Mary, Knights of Columbus, Masonic Lodge, and American Legion) are part of the many groups that volunteer each year at the Corn Festival. Are you a member and have you signed up to volunteer? OR, call the Brentwood Chamber at 925-634-3344 and tell the person who answers that you want to give back to your community by becoming a volunteer at the grandest venue in town. Tell them you want to be a Corn Festival Volunteer! This article was written by Fred Ehler, Brentwood Chamber’s 2011 Ambassador of the Year. Come out and join Fred and all the rest of the volunteers at the 20th Anniversary Corn Festival July 13, 14 and 15, 2012. Let’s have some fun! Fred Ehler Chamber Ambassador and Director CornFest Volunteer
