ormer Roddy Ranch General Manager Kevin Fitzgerald, 46, is wanted by the Contra Costa County District Attorney for loan and insurance fraud, diverting construction funds and falsifying police reports, according to Northern California’s Most Wanted website. The Roddy Ranch Golf Club in Antioch abruptly shuttered its doors on Aug. 11, after 16 years, citing the expense of irrigating the golf course as the reason for the club’s closure. Anyone with information concerning this person is urged to submit an anonymous tip at www.northerncaliforniamostwanted.org.

Agencies mull keeping fourth station open by Kyle Szymanski Staff Writer
A week after the Brentwood City Council moved closer to finalizing a plan to pay for a portion of the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District’s fourth station for three years, the Oakley City Council and Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors have left the door open to the possibility of providing money for the effort. On Tuesday, the board of supervisors tentatively agreed
to provide about $200,000 for each of the next two years, if the City of Oakley contributes funds and the agreement between Brentwood and the district is cancelled. Hours later, however, the Oakley City Council decided it needed more time to mull over the issue. “If we are going to participate in this, I want a better sense of what the numbers are, when the numbers are due and when it is critical that we have to participate in the process,” said Oakley City Councilmem-
ber Kevin Romick. The district’s fourth station, in Knightsen, is expected to close in June, if additional funds aren’t found. Brentwood Mayor Bob Taylor said it’s too early to know if the developments will impact his city’s deal with the fire district, which only needs to be approved by the fire board on May 1 to become official. “We are going to stay on course, and if something else comes along, we’ll evaluate it,” said Taylor. Brentwood called for the Knightsen station to close at the end of June and a second Brentwood station to open in exchange for Brentwood’s pledge of $3 million over three years. The fire district would pay the remaining $4.3 million needed to keep the station open over that period. That deal appeared to materialize after Brentwood and fire district officials met privately with Oakley and county officials and came away see Station page 30
