City takes next steps toward water park by Kyle Szymanski Staff Writer

The Brentwood City Council is on the edge of welcoming a Great Wolf indoor water park resort to the city, but before it dives into the plan, local leaders want to make sure it’s a good fit. This week, the council agreed to spend $275,000 to have an outside agency conduct an economic and feasibility analysis to confirm the resort plan is in the city’s best interest, as well as legal fees. The third-party analysis is in part slated to verify Great Wolf’s claims that the resort would be a boon for the city. An unexpected increase in property tax will pay for the analysis. “This is just about us doing our due diligence to not only see if it’s a good fit for the

Completing the race in 2 hours and 41 minutes (with several stops for character photos), Emma finished the race with a smile. Over the course of six months, she prepared by running on the treadmill and competing in several 10k trail races leading up to the 13.1mile race. She enjoys running and the spirit of community it brings. She is already planning for more races in 2017.

The Brentwood Theater Company has two more awards to add to its shelf this year – making for six prestigious Shellie Awards for the small East County troupe. Father and daughter Steve and Charlotte Kinsella picked up top honors at the Shellie Awards gala, on Jan. 14, at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. Steve was honored for his outstanding contribution to the performing arts. “I’d first like to say thank you to the staff at the Brentwood Theater Company for honoring

me in this way and then to the actors who made me look good,” said Steve. “With that company and the company that I’ve started now – the Brentwood Repertory Theater – I think that theater is an organic process, and you have to create an environment that allows artists to do their best and blossom within the constraints of the script and the music. Theater in East Contra Costa County is alive and well, and we look forward to a blossoming environment here where people don’t have to cross the bridge to see a great show.” Charlotte was awarded her Shellie for best supporting actress in the play “Brighton Beach

I am so excited to see what the future holds for me and winning this award really gives me that encouragement. The East Bay theater community is filled with so many talented people and organizations.
