About Oakley

The City of Oakley incorporated in July 1999 and is one of California’s youngest cities.

Residents enjoy a charming area with an abundant housing supply, quality schools and a friendly atmosphere that truly makes Oakley, “A Place for Families in the Heart of the Delta.”

Today a landscape of gently rolling fields, orchards and vineyards gives us a glimpse of Oakley’s agricultural past. From a quiet Delta farming town, Oakley has blossomed into a growing community of landscaped parks, abundant recreational opportunities, shopping centers and planned business and commercial developments.

The Civic Center Plaza, home to City Hall, Civic Center Park, the Oakley Police Department and Black Bear Diner, has served as an anchor to revitalize and beautify the historic Downtown. The addition of the Amphitheater to Civic Center Park has brought concerts, movies and other events to downtown Oakley. Most recent efforts include the redevelopment of the Oakley Plaza directly across the street from the Civic Center Plaza. The Oakley Plaza includes restaurants and retail businesses, including new establishments such as Grocery Outlet, Guanatos Ice Cream and Buon Appetito Italian Restaurant.

Oakley’s residents enjoy a progressive community that is rich in history, supports strong family values and offers a high quality of life. Our residents take pride in being a part of a city that is building a very prosperous future for generations to come.

The City Council, composed of five members, is the legislative body of the City. The Council makes all policy determinations through enactment of ordinances and resolutions. The position of the Mayor rotates on a yearly basis each December. The City Councilmembers are:

The City of Oakley is proud to offer three group picnic gazebos for your next meeting, party or baby shower. The gazebos at Creekside Park, Crockett Park and Summer Lake Community Park are available for rent by residents, nonresidents and non-profit organizations. See page 7 for a complete list of park amenities. Get your reservations in early as these sites book quickly.
