The family of Roshel Madlangbayan, the 15-yearold Freedom High School student struck and killed by an allegedly intoxicated driver along East Cypress Road last year, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver, the City of Oakley and an off-duty California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer. On June 28, 2016, Roshel and her 16-year-old friend were walking along East Cypress Road near Bethel Island, when Walnut Creek resident Kristina Salvitti, 50, veered off the roadway and struck the two teens. Roshel was pronounced dead at the scene. Her friend was seriously injured, but has since recovered. Salvitti fled the area and was later picked up in San Bernadino, where she had become a carnival worker see Lawsuit page 30A
