Our actions are defined by reflexes, or reactions. The way we react to a stimulus says about as much about you as as a strand of DNA. My design is a culmination of everything I have ever learned, and my reaction to a problem using those tools. In that way, there are infinite solutions to a given problem with our reflexes are evolving every minute. A reaction from our audience is ultimately what a designer strives for, and to me is as important as any principle of design. React.

I was asked Select a deli, that is in need of or has the potential for growth with a re brand and expansion of their product line.
solution
After examining the location and market of Boys Deli in San Francisco, I took inspiration from the sport and hip hop culture, the boys of the deli subscribed to, which lead to a vastly different looking deli product than the crafty etsy style that is saturating the market.

Pick a film director, alive or dead. Capture the ethos and aesthetic of their films, and translate that into an integrated design system, that lives as a film festival in honor of that director

I chose Russ Meyer, an often over looked and misunderstood influence to many of todays great filmmakers, and even genres.

I chose Deus Ex Machina, a custom motorcycle and surfboard manufacture to produce this birdhouse. Their ethos of enjoying the outdoors and life as we see it fit perfectly, and a custom build approach depending on the shop location means local materials and construction. The main ingredients of sustainable manufacturing.

In this Group Project, of Katie Tonkavich, Zack Simons and myself, we were given a simple prompt. Re-invision a product, or service in a way that looks to the future and acts responsibly towards our environment and society

We had common ground in that we all enjoyed bicycles, and rode them daily. We looked back to iconic brand that needed help and found schwinn reaching out from the depths of Walmart store shelves.

Sound is present in all genres, an the way we receive that sound can be as complex as the arrangement of music. I was inspired by the simplicity of Dieter Rams’ product design and the shape and expression of analog equalizer.
