Middle School PlanningWorkshop Every year a recent graduate of Pendleton County High School is selected to share knowledge gained in their first year of college to students in the middle school Gifted and Talented program. I was given this opportunity in the spring of 2013. I was tasked to develop a workshop that not only taught the basics of planning, but sessions that encouraged the students to think critically about the development of Falmouth, Kentucky. Student activities included: meeting the community development director, taking a walking tour of the city, learning basic planning principles, and basic drawing skills. The faculty of the Gifted and Talented program was very pleased with the students’ work and would like to continue the sessions in the future.

“As I begin my search for professional planning experience I keep this quote in mind, ‘Twenty years from now you will be more dissapointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.’ This encourages me to take advantage of the many opportunities I’m offered in life. Each day is a privilege.”
