Brevard’s workforce is in motion, and we’re here to make sure it continues to move forward.
Jack Rood | Chair, Brevard Workforce
Greetings. Thank you for taking the time to read our 2010-2011 Annual Report, which highlights some of our most exciting - and challenging - accomplishments from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. During a year of great change and uncertainity, Brevard Workforce proved its worth to this talented community by evolving and adapting to meet its changing needs head on. As Chair of Brevard Workforce, I witnessed our evolution firsthand, and I could not be more proud of the team and community partners that have helped us make great strides as an organization. Brevard’s workforce is in motion, and we’re here to make sure it continues to move forward.
Within this report, you’ll see some of our many accomplishments. Whether it was opening two new Career Centers, shifting our way of operating to focus more on employer needs, or our extraordinary efforts to assist aerospace workers, Brevard Workforce continues to work hard to build a bright and better future for Brevard County. Thank you again, and I hope you enjoy the report - and especially the videos! Sincerely,
Jack Rood Chair, Brevard Workforce

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
BizLaunch | Video will open in new window when clicked
Unemployment can make answering basic questions difficult. How will I pay my mortgage? What are my health insurance options? Can I start my own business? What about my 401K? We noticed this need, and in response, launched our Community Resources Program in February of 2011. With a dedicated staff and generous partnerships with several local non-profit organizations, we created a series of 21 different information sessions, including BizLaunch, a weekly club for budding entrepreneurs, which quickly became one of the most popular sessions we offer (watch the above clip for more about this exciting program). Other sessions cover topics such as career transition, health insurance, mortgage relief, job search, and much more.
94 CLASSES 85 DAYS The first information session was held on March 8, 2011. In the following 85 business days, 94 sessions were conducted!

In response to the community’s need, Brevard Workforce opened two efficiently re-engineered Career Centers. The new Center in Titusville, which opened on March 22, 2011, is a 6,000-square-foot facility - three times larger than its previous space. The new Rockledge Career Center opened a few months later on June 23. At 21,000 square feet, it is the largest Center. All in all, Brevard Workforce had more than 130,000 employers and job seekers visit our Career Centers last year.
