What I thought Class reflection topic/question My ideas leaned towards homelessness or environmental issues. I also had thoughts about working in a SALVOS store. I further pursued my idea of working at a Salvos. I went to a Salvation Army shop located near Stud Park and liberated a card with their number However, I discovered that to work there one must be of a certain age. Unfortunately I did not fit this requirement. Therefore, I decided to work on a different topic. Continued After the disappointment of realising that I would brainstorming not be able to travel the long and winding road of volunteering, my thoughts turned elsewhere. Along the lines of volunteering was donations to charities. It was therefore decided that I would research various charities, determining which were suitable for donations. AWAY AWAY Although we had already discussed this in class, due to my illness I decided to continue my foray into the unknown territory of charity. I found a large number of charities that welcomed donations and offered part-time work. I visited the RSPCA and Cancer Council websites, however my age once again restricted me from working there. So after much deliberation myself and Jacob started work on the topic of homelessness. We contemplated different ways of making a difference. Donating money to a charity or even giving money to people who we see on the streets. However, we cannot know what the money would be spent on. Therefore, this idea will probably be discounted. It may be a better idea to buy items for them. Will research further. Jacob away for most lessons, making it increasingly hard to work together and find solutions. Most

lessons from here on in were dedicated to writing story or completing journal entries. Story was saved in the wrong place and was later deleted. In this section I have started writing my speech, in which a story might be used as an anecdote. After collaborating outside of school hours by means of phone calls, skype and meet-ups. It was unanimously decided to deliver items to homeless individuals. Jacob learnt of a gathering of homeless individuals near Dandenong Market, where certain vegetarian meals were handed out. Over the holidays we will attend this gathering, bringing with us food items (packaged) and also blankets/warm clothing/mattresses or pillows. If possible we may interview some individuals and gather a first-hand recount of their struggle. If permission is given, we may include parts of this conversation in the TED talk. Since our idea has been finalised, the remainder of class time spent on this topic will consist of finding information to include in the speech and indeed writing the speech itself.
