Brian Calfano
Brian Calfano is a distinguished journalist, professor, documentary director, and author focusing on twentieth-century political and journalism issues. His extensive career bridges media and academia, where he has made notable contributions. He is the first scholar-in-residence for Latakoo, a video management software company that partners with major news organizations, including NBC Universal, Nexstar, and Charter Spectrum. Additionally, he holds a courtesy appointment in the Department of Political Science at the University of North Texas. Brian’s career in journalism has seen him take on multiple significant roles across television and radio. He was an anchor and political show host for KSNT 27 News, providing political coverage for markets such as Topeka, Wichita, and Kansas City. His work at Spectrum News 1 Ohio included producing and reporting on political and social topics. As a political analyst, he also provided on-air commentary during breaking news coverage. In Springfield, Missouri, Brian served as a producer and anchor for KOLR10, contributing to shows such as a Missouri bicentennial special and a series on the US Constitution. He also hosted a public affairs radio show, “Morningline,” on News Talk 560AM KWTO for seven years, conducting interviews with public officials and discussing political matters. In addition, he participated as a media panelist in congressional debates for KOLR10. Brian's documentary, Al Primo & His Eyewitness Revolution, has received critical acclaim. It won several prestigious awards, including Best Documentary at London's 2024 Golden Nugget International Film Festival. The documentary was also selected for distribution to PBS stations nationwide. Brian’s accomplishments in journalism have been recognized through numerous awards, including First Place in Education Issues Reporting from the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists and nominations from the National Association of Television Arts & Sciences.
