APRIL NEWSLETTER 2024

POINTS TO PONDER

Thank you, Fremont Toyota, our Newest Catalyst Level Member!

You may have noticed a new logo on the front of this month’s newsletter. For many decades, Fremont Toyota has been a loyal member of the Lander Chamber as well as the presenting sponsor of our Lander Brewfest for most of its 22 years. (Psst. Early bird tickets are on sale now through April 14!) I am delighted and honored to share that Fremont Toyota is the newest of our Catalyst Level Members, the top tier of those businesses and institutions who recognize the good work we are doing and who want to help us do more of it. I’ll have more to share on Fremont Toyota’s increased support of our programs and events in the coming months. In the meanwhile, I’d like to thank especially General Manager Mike Myers and ECommerce Director Jeff Running for their support and encouragement!

Lander Young Professionals Partnering with The Bootstrap Collaborative!

CWC’s Bootstrap Collaborative serves everyone in Fremont County who needs help expanding, refining, revitalizing, or starting their business by expanding Fremont County’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. On Thursday, April 11 at CWC’s Lander Campus, our Lander Young Professionals will be co-hosting a Bootstrap Encore Event: “What’s a Successful Business Game Plan?” This will be an excellent learning and networking opportunity for anyone thinking about starting a business or looking to learn more about managing their current business. Come and join us on the 11th! Light refreshments will be served, and it’s all free and open to the public!

Beneficial Ownership Reporting Struck Down ~ Should You Still File?

New federal rules that went into effect in January and require more than 32 million businesses to report the personal information of business owners to a new federal database have been struck down by a Federal District Court Judge. There is some question concerning whether or not businesses can now ignore the requirement, as the U S Department of Justice is very likely to appeal the ruling The Lander Chamber is encouraging business owners to consult a professional accounting firm and/or attorney

Have You Taken our ½-Cent Economic Development Sales Tax Survey?

We are seeking the input of our members on whether they support the continuation of Fremont County’s ½-Cent Economic Development Sales Tax, which is up for renewal in November’s general election Some proposals are being put forth to change: 1) how much and to what the money is distributed and 2) how grant applications are evaluated and how the grants awarded Details of these proposals -- and I stress proposals: these are just ideas at this point -- are in the survey

If you have not received the survey link, please contact us, and we’ll get it to you.

My education and background are in personal fitness and nutrition. I was a full-time certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and nutrition coach for more than

twenty years, the last thirteen of which I owned my own fitness studio. During that time, I was intimately involved in the local chamber of commerce in the small town we lived in.

I started out as an ambassador and then was invited to join the board and eventually served as President and Treasurer. During my tenure at the chamber, I was also part of the fundraising committee and helped organize and run multiple events and fundraisers. Of all the hats that I wore during my time with the chamber, event planning was by far my favorite; I truly feel that I have landed my dream job!

My husband and I relocated to Riverton from Monroe, Washington in September of 2022. Prior to getting hired at the Lander Chamber of Commerce, I worked as a Service Advisor for Fremont Ford in Riverton. My husband has been working at Murdoch’s at the Gun Counter for about a year and has recently been offered a position with the Riverton Police Department as a Community Officer. We’ve fallen in love with Wyoming and Fremont County and look forward to exploring everything that Wind River Country has to offer and becoming even more involved in our communities.
